“The fundamental principle in care of the soul is that the soul needs tending. If we do not tend to things in their suffering, and decay, we risk living the life of the walking dead.” ~Thomas Moore. As I acquire experience as a therapist, it has become apparent that the therapeutic relationship between the counselor and the client is crucial to the success of the client. Counseling is based on trust and the professional connection, and through that connection, the counseling session becomes a co-creation that can unlock the client’s barriers to a fulfilling life.

Mindfulness practiced with compassion, and building your self-esteem will be important aspects of our work together.
You may be here because something in your life feels heavy, overwhelming, or out of balance. You deserve a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly seen. My holistic approach looks at the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and spirit—so we can understand what’s happening beneath the surface and help you move forward with more clarity and ease. In our work together, I’ll give you practical tools to navigate stress, anxiety, grief, or major life transitions. We’ll focus on reframing self-defeating thoughts, building self-esteem, and practicing mindful compassion so you can feel more grounded and empowered in your daily life.

Trauma can get stuck in the body. Throughout time, that trauma wreaks havoc on our physical and emotional being causing a myriad of health problems. Because trauma is stored differently than other stressors, it demands a specific therapeutic approach. As you may have experienced in past therapy, talking about trauma is often ineffective, and revisiting those memories can often worsen your situation. This can lead to relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and unhealthy coping mechanisms. Together, we can find a way to move past that trauma and live a life free of pain, and filled with peace.

I am a clinical social worker and therapist licensed in the state of Washington. In my practice, I see children, adolescents and adults of all ages who may be experiencing difficulties within themselves or in their relationships with others or may be seeking a journey or self-growth and change. My style is based on the belief that in order to best assist my clients in reaching their goals during the psychotherapeutic process, I need to know when to listen attentively, when to offer practical advice and when to bring attention to deeper internal conflicts that may cause suffering.

I draw from AEDP, EFT, Gottman principles, and mindfulness.
Welcome! We are all emotional and relational beings so naturally our greatest happiness and heartache often come from our relationships and are ongoing throughout our lives. Experiencing anxiety, depression, feelings of being stuck, loneliness, spiritual challenges, struggling with communication issues, moving through discouragement, and unmet expectations in yourself and/or loved ones, is not a sign of failure or weakness. These experiences simply remind us we are human and provide opportunities for growth. The choice to do something different is yours. I welcome the walk with you on your journey of hope and transformation.

I teach my clients to utilize mindfulness practices to calibrate their moods, alter their attitudes, develop greater mental flexibility, develop acceptance, and improve overall happiness and well being.
I am also a trained couples therapist from The Couples Institute. This approach gives couples tools to move successfully through the developmental stages that all relationships face and teaches partners to replace their negative cycles with more effective strategies to achieve the relationship they desire.

Life comes with challenges; at times it feels like they keep piling on, making it difficult not to become overwhelmed. This overwhelm can be magnified when we feel as if we’re facing hardship alone. Powerlessness to make a meaningful difference, despite our best efforts, can be disheartening. During these times the weight of our burdens seem unbearable; the path forward unclear. You don't have to navigate this alone. As your therapist, I'll meet you where you are using a trauma-informed, neurobiologically based approach to help you understand how your brain works, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and build skills for managing distress.

I am a dual-licensed clinician who approaches therapy through life experience and a holistic approach. I believe that broken people help broken people. I like to say I am most likely not your typical vision of what a therapist would be like, and that is due to my approachability and connectivity. You may be someone who feels deeply and reflects carefully about the world around you. On the outside, you may appear capable and composed while internally feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode. You may be wondering if it’s possible to feel more connected, grounded, and like yourself again. Many of my clients identify as highly sensitive, emotionally perceptive, or "deep feelers" seeking a therapy experience that honors depth, reflection, and nervous system awareness—often adults navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, or life transitions while quietly carrying their own pain.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
