I often use Person-Centered therapy, EMDR, CBT, DBT, System's & Narrative Therapy.
“The fundamental principle in care of the soul is that the soul needs tending. If we do not tend to things in their suffering, and decay, we risk living the life of the walking dead.” ~Thomas Moore. As I acquire experience as a therapist, it has become apparent that the therapeutic relationship between the counselor and the client is crucial to the success of the client. Counseling is based on trust and the professional connection, and through that connection, the counseling session becomes a co-creation that can unlock the client’s barriers to a fulfilling life.

I like to say I am most likely not your typical vision of what a therapist would be like, and that is due to my approachability and connectivity. I approach care with a full range of approaches tailored to the needs of the human being in front of me. I am a compassionate and well-rounded therapist.

I draw from a variety of trauma-informed approaches, including Story-Informed Trauma Therapy and EMDR.
Maybe you have a box in your head that's labeled "Past Stuff." You put in all the things you don't like thinking about: hurts from your childhood, the memories of things you did that play on a loop in your head if you're not careful. Lately, things have been leaking out. You feel less in control of your life, and the memories that used to stay in the box are escaping. Or maybe you know the box is there and have a sense that you should sort through it, but you're not sure about doing it alone.

I use EMDR to help people reprocess trauma and loosen its grip.
Welcome. Perhaps you know exactly why you're here. Perhaps you're contemplating. It may be healing from past trauma, shaping your anxious energy into something productive, envisioning your days without the weight of depression, searching your soul for connection to something greater, restoring relationships, evicting those critical thoughts you keep thinking about yourself/others, coping effectively with the ridiculous amount of stress out there, spiritual development, or tackling that “thing” that keeps holding you back. My therapeutic style balances understanding of where you're at with keeping you moving forward.

Are you struggling with the loss of a loved one, the loss of the life you thought should have been, or even the loss of self? Are you someone struggling with self-worth, guilt, or shame, someone who struggles to trust others, or maybe to trust yourself?

I incorporate Emotion Focus Therapy (EFT), Attachment, EMDR, and Lifespan Integration (for trauma).
When things happen to us, our bodies hold residual memories of those events. We may forget about it, believe we have moved on, but may be triggered by something and it takes us right back to that event. You do not have to work through that alone.

As an EMDR-trained therapist, I help clients reprocess past experiences and transform them into stories of strength and resilience.
I work with individuals who have experienced many forms of trauma. I have special training working with those who are navigating a medical diagnosis, chronic illness, or experienced medical trauma. I believe that living with the diagnosis of a chronic illness doesn't have to define who you are but rather be built into a story of resilience.

My lens is naturally trauma-informed, and my language can be DBT and EMDR.
I aim to cultivate a therapy relationship that merges lived, desired, and present experiences with a long-developed capacity for understanding trauma. Clinicians are all unique. For me, it is an honor to support others living fully integrated lives as a temporary human diary. I am the proud witness of laughter, tears, triumphs, and perhaps (too many, these days) puzzles. But I do enjoy a puzzle, goal-oriented people, and if you don't quite fit into mainstream... you're in the right place.

My work integrates ecotherapy, EMDR, somatic practices, and depth-oriented exploration, with a focus on supporting women and LGBTQ+ individuals through life transitions.
Many adults seek therapy when they feel burned out, disconnected, or in the midst of significant transition and are looking for support beyond traditional talk therapy. I specialize in working with queer and transgender adults and with women navigating aging, including perimenopause and menopause. Common concerns include anxiety, depression, trauma (past or present), climate grief, and identity transitions. This work often resonates with those drawn to nature-based therapy and small group experiences that support nervous system regulation, shared reflection, and reconnection with self, others, and the natural world.

I am trained in EMDR, DBT, CBT, family systems, EFT, and other traditional therapies.
It often starts with the unexpected. Unexpected news, unanticipated turns, unforeseen circumstances, and sometimes the unimaginable. It is at these times we can often feel powerless, afraid, confused, and uncertain. Change for some can be unwelcomed and for other’s change doesn’t seem to come soon enough. We cannot always choose what we go through, but we can choose how we go through it. Many seek therapy due to hard-fought battles with a variety of life issues, such as depression, trauma, anxiety, relationship problems, parenting challenges, and experiences from the past that keep them from moving forward.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
