I understand managing work stress, and the complexities of balancing masculinity with authentic self-expression.
Stepping into therapy takes immense courage, and I'm honored to be part of that journey with you. My primary goal is to build a foundation of trust, safety, and openness. I strive to create a space where you can show up authentically, sharing and processing whatever is on your mind, no matter how challenging it may be. Life inevitably brings painful thoughts, emotions, and experiences, but that doesn’t mean we have to suffer through them. Through therapy we learn to embrace these difficulties as part of life, approach them with non-judgmental curiosity, and develop the core values needed to navigate a path forward.

You've lived everyday of your life in your body and even though you might be experiencing a difficult time or series of difficult events, you're the expert in your life. You probably have a pretty good idea of what's been working well and what's not been working so well. This is one of the reasons I take a collaborative approach in my work. We'll look at your goals and I'll meet you where you're currently at in life.

I believe, and the research clearly indicates, that the bond you form with your therapist is the biggest predictor of positive outcomes. I therefore place a high emphasis on establishing a warm, safe environment for our relationship to grow. I like to understand therapy as a shared endeavor at pattern finding. If we can understand the personal and interpersonal patterns that contribute to your difficulties, we can address the root causes of those challenges and open up new ways of experiencing yourself and others.

I understand the pressures of being a professional, spouse, or family member can feel like you are trying to fulfill many contradictory agendas.
I’m Nitish with 20+ years practicing Counseling. My calling started during my 3rd year as a pre-med student. Something in me wanted to figure out why I felt like I had a chip on my shoulder. This lead me to investigating Psychology that became my vocation thereafter. Understanding why hu mans feel, think, and act in certain ways helped me to understand myself and people around me. I could feel God had given me new tools to learn about His pinnacle of creation. It was like gaining a window into my soul. After all, by definition, Psychology is the study of the soul.

Everyone needs hope. We despair and turn to alcohol, food, shopping, sex and the infinite screen to fill our void. We think we know what we want: intimacy, confidence, inner peace and a sense of achievement. We want to matter. We are tortured at times by self doubt implanted by past traumas. I offer a secure place to be yourself to unravel your secrets, fears, shame and guilt. I have 26 years post-doctoral clinical experience counseling individuals, couples and families. I view hu man problems from a social systemic perspective addressing the individual and their social context.

Are you looking to learn skills that can help you with stress, anxiety, and self-doubt? You are conscientious and smart, yet feel overwhelmed by high de mands or new changes. You have also experienced a difficult childhood, characterized by a significant traumatic event, or many incidents of invalidation, such as constant criticism by your parents. As someone who grew up in an emotionally-challenged family and has worked in highly competitive environments, I have likely been in your shoes. I have also worked as a psychologist at the on-site Wellness Center of Facebook, providing counseling to its employees.

Callum can help you process anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, relationship issues, and that general feeling of stuckness in the face of life transitions. Of particular interest is working with young people experiencing a “failure to launch” into a world which has changed faster than the support it provides them, as well as helping those of all ages battling substance abuse. Being in long-term recovery himself, he delights in helping others achieve the same in whatever way works best for them—harm reduction or total abstinence—and has experience facilitating evidence-based intensive outpatient recovery groups.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
