The issues stemming from trauma that I work with most often are - anxiety, depression, grief & loss, relational difficulties with family members, and spiritual & existential questioning.
Do you have past trauma that continues to impact your daily life and relationships? You are worthy of relief. And I am here to help you find relief from trauma symptoms so you can be fully present to the life in front of you. Through the 8 phases of EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), I help you process painful or traumatic memories. The rapid eye movements in EMDR help relieve the distress attached to these memories, by activating the "timekeeper" in your prefrontal cortex. This timekeeper is what helps you differentiate between "then" and "now", a crucial element in healing from trauma.

I work with individuals living with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and isolation.
Many of us learn early on that our belonging in this world depends on our ability to banish aspects of ourselves that cannot be safely held by others. We skillfully fold and shrink ourselves into the shapes that allow us to survive, sometimes with great reward for doing so, but find that our deepest longings go unmentioned and unmet. I am here to hold space for those parts which are too big, too unbearable to be held alone, so that my clients can expand in ways that help them contact their feelings, connect to their desires, and begin to find a home in the world.

I love working with people to process trauma, tackle anxiety issues, explore identity, work through grief, and navigate relationships, parenting, and life transitions- because I know there's so much hope and potential for healing and growth.
Therapy is a journey where people can be accepted just as they are and gain support in navigating their internal world to find healing and growth. Time spent living in different cultures has given me a deep level of respect for the diversity of human experience and the interconnectedness of beliefs, relationships, environment, and mental health. I believe that understanding the narratives we have about ourselves and how they came to be can help us break free from shame and overcome barriers in our lives- ultimately gaining the capacity to redefine our sense of self.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
