Email for a quick response. "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated." ---Maya Angelou. We all experience difficulties. When life gets complicated, when we are overwhelmed and just need some guidance to navigate our day, when we need to feel more in control, to feel comfortable and safe, counseling is helpful. Every one of us could use someone to listen, an opportunity to speak freely and be supported. This is my focus and passion. I have extensive experience working with youth and adults who are experiencing sadness, worry, anger, grief , and trauma.

Areas of practice include: depression & anxiety, family issues, separation/divorce, couples conflict, stress management, self esteem & body image, parenting, grief & loss , trauma, and Clinical Hypnosis for Relaxation & Anxiety Reduction.
** I AM NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS** Everyone struggles at some point in their life. Sometimes we are able to handle life's difficulties on our own and sometimes we could use the help of a professional to conquer our dilemmas. I am honored to help people through those rough patches, and at all times guide them in a nonjudgmental, confidential, caring way. I do not take a 'one size fits all' approach to counseling. I will work with my clients to establish goals and how we will work towards that growth.

People see counselors for many different reasons. Some folks have mental health struggles such as anxiety or depression and therefore come to therapy for treatment and help. Others come to therapy for other life problems such as relationship problems, stressful work environments, worries about their future or their kids, struggles with their faith and spirituality, or grief and loss , etc. Counseling is an investment in the betterment of your life.

***I AM CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AND WILL REASSESS AVAILABILITY IN JULY*** How does one stay hopeful when today can be so hard? We all crave connection and can benefit from being heard in a confidential space without judgement. The challenges we face in life come in many forms, but everyone has the capacity to experience positive change. It would be my privilege to hear your story and support you in your current season. I work with teens (16+) and adults, and take a Person-Centered Therapy approach when developing a plan of care. Therapy should be about reaching your goals for life change.

As a mental health therapist/counselor I place great value on working in a supportive environment and assisting you to develop goals to help you become a better individual who lives life to the fullest. In identifying your issues and questions, the general goal of counseling is to help you learn to implement coping mechanisms. I believe that nobody is immune to the ups and downs that life can bring. The power of having a safe space with a therapist you connect with can make all the difference. My goal as a therapist is to help you find greater self-compassion, healing, hope, and the strength within yourself to find solutions that work for you. At heart, I am a humanistic therapist. With a humanistic approach, I aim to help you as a whole person, achieve a more fulfilling life, rather than treat a specific diagnosis. Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
