I love working with clients who are seeking greater connection and meaning in their lives. You may be unsure of your next step, grappling with uncertainty, or finding areas of life where you feel hungry for more freedom or belonging. I'm a good fit for adults of all genders who need support with anxiety, stress, pregnancy and postpartum, self esteem , and life transitions such as career change or bringing a baby home. Stress and uncertainty can make us lose touch with our inner voice, leaving us unable to trust ourselves, and therapy is a courageous choice toward connection and agency.

Living with anxiety is hard, and chances are you’ve really tried to manage it on your own. Maybe you have a general sense of worry all the time, or maybe there's something specific that brings it on. Either way, you want to feel better. Ignoring it and pretending to be fine isn't working for you anymore. On top of the exhaustion and overwhelm, you might worry there's something wrong with you. At this point, your anxiety is giving you anxiety! What if you felt in control of your anxiety? What if you were your own biggest cheerleader rather than worst critic? What if you could live a full, bright life without anxiety holding you back?

Accepting New Clients. Maybe you haven’t said it out loud…but that feeling is still there. Those thoughts pop up. Sneaking in to your daily routine. Sometimes you feel uneasy or anxious for no reason. Even when things are going well you still can’t help but feel….off. Not yourself. You don’t have to carry that around anymore. It doesn’t have to weigh you down and effect work, your relationships, your self-esteem. Change is hard – and finding the words to figure out what’s wrong may be difficult – but not impossible. That’s where therapy comes in.

I have major experience in helping people with low self esteem and people who had difficult or abusive parents or partners.
I want your therapy experience to be a safe place to explore your life, your problems, and your dreams. Thoreau's quotation says it for me: "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could learn what it had to teach, and not when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Your issues may be small or large. My commitment to you is to respect you as an individual and to really listen to you.

I have been in private practice since 2004 and work with individuals, couples and groups dealing with a wide variety of issues. I recognize that each client is unique and strive to create an individual plan of therapy tailored to each person's specific needs. This often includes dealing with what isn't working in their life, whether it's depression, traumatic past experiences or relational difficulties, also recognizing the aspects of their life that may be working well and finding ways to build on those strengths.

Our subconscious mind holds the memories and perceptions of every experience from childhood to adulthood. And as we continue our journey, the unresolved past continues to negatively affect our bodies, influence our thoughts, behaviors and everyday life on an unconscious level. We may not understand why we feel or react as we do to certain situations or why the same patterns show up every time and unexplained symptoms and/or circumstances keep repeating themselves. Often this prevents us from moving forward with our lives, achieve clarity and authenticity.

In my practice I work with both adults and teens ages 13 and up, and I particularly enjoy working with teen girls and young women on issues such as self-esteem and body image, school and familial struggles, trauma, and anxiety. I also gave birth to my first child and love working with new mothers on the unique challenges early motherhood presents. I am here to help my clients change destructive adaptative patterns to positive ones and to help make their lives and self esteem better.
Most conflict involves relationship: a relationship with ourselves, our parents, our children, our lovers, our bosses, our co-workers. This is the one area where education fails us. We inhabit an adult body with a child's knowledge of how to interact with the world and ourselves and that is where a therapist's knowledge can be beneficial. "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it" (Rumi). I can help a client find and diminish those barriers.

It can be difficult to start therapy. The desire to seek out change and dig into your feelings can often be coupled with feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or not knowing if it's the right time or decision for you. Whatever your reasons or hesitations, choosing to start therapy is courageous and once you arrive at this decision, you're not in it alone.

Self Esteem Therapists
Self-esteem lives on a spectrum: Not enough self-regard (or low self esteem) can lead people to become depressed, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love (or high self-esteem), results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failure. And it's occasionally a sign of clinical narcissism. Quite the opposite of being shy or shyness, yet still on the same spectrum.
