My therapeutic orientation is rooted in Family Systems, Attachment and Humanistic Theories, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Conflict Resolution.
Do you yearn for more harmonious relationships in your life? I will support you to uncover patterns that lead to disconnection, cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself and others, develop more effective communication skills, and explore solutions that can lead to lasting, positive change. Healthy relationships are fundamental to our well-being and yet the pathway is not always simple or clear. With a nonjudgmental, holistic, and growth-oriented approach, I counsel individuals, parents, intimate partners, and families who struggle with interpersonal issues so that they can achieve more ease and harmony in their relationships.

While my clinical orientation is primarily informed by Gestalt and EFT principles, I utilize an eclectic variety of methods in my practice including Cognitive Behavioral, Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral techniques and Mindfulness, Experiential-based focusing, and Gottman therapy methods.
As a therapist, I believe first and foremost in the healing and growth that can happen in relationship. My therapeutic approach is about meeting people where they are, and engaging each individual in a healing dialogue that is appropriate and specific to his or her life. I am a process oriented therapist. This means that I am primarily interested in understanding the process through which my clients respond to the world and how they make meaning out of their experiences. My goal is to facilitate increased awareness in my clients and improve agency, choice, and connection in their lives.

I work extensively with past/childhood trauma, divorces, family conflict, grief, and fear. The focus of my work is about acknowledging and releasing the beliefs we develop about ourselves from events that occur in the past that are hindering our True selves for flourishing in the present. As an original life coach and counselor of 40 years, I help people see all possibilities and make a greater vision of themselves, their unique talents, gifts and abilities. I have been teaching seminars, workshops, and private sessions for my whole career. My unique healing modality, "The Clearing Process", is the basis for all 24 of my workshops.

You're on-edge and having trouble concentrating. You feel restless and unable to stop overthinking. Maybe you're wanting to isolate to protect your friends and family from your sadness and anger. It's hard to continue pretending that everything is fine when you are feeling so desperate inside. You want to feel heard, seen, and understood. You would love to figure out your anxiety or depression—where it might be coming from and how to make it stop (or at least not be so intense).

Good For You! You have taken the first step: You are asking for help at a time when life challenges have caused you to pause and reflect. Life can feel out of balance, leaving us with feelings of despair, anxiousness and loss. Our basic human needs are those of connecting to others. We feel pain and discomfort when we feel separated. It takes courage to look at ourselves, to find the meaning of the discomfort. This struggle can have profound lasting results for personal growth, better health, and closer relationships with our family, friends and the community at large.

Welcome to my practice. I am here to support families of all kinds from the beginning onward. I do this by creating “a home for emotional dwelling” where together we navigate the journey of pregnancy, postpartum, parenthood, loss and other life experiences that forever change who we are. These shifts aren’t always easy. You may ask: "Who am I now? What kind of parent do I want to be? How do I move with grace into the unfolding of my life?" I will walk alongside you in your journey offering the support you need. We may explore issues including past trauma, family-of-origin, relational changes, and shifting identity.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
