This is true for all people, and men and adolescent boys trying to navigate competing expectations put on us by family, society, and work often find it difficult to talk about their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental environment.
Working with my clients, what I don't bring is judgement. What I do bring is the understanding that you want to be heard and improve something in your life. I use CBT techniques, Anger Management, and Solution Focused Therapy to assist people in reaching their goals.

For many men, turning to Pornhub, OnlyFans, cam sites, or even Instagram creates a growing emotional gap, eroding trust, intimacy and connection.
I work with men who feel trapped by secrecy, shame, and fear of losing valued connections. I understand this struggle personally because I’ve been in your shoes. As a mental health professional and someone who’s faced these challenges, I help you overcome barriers, rebuild trust, restore intimacy, and become the partner you want to be.

I work primarily with teens, young adults, men, and couples who desire to create space to work on areas of concern in their lives and relationships.
With individuals my focus is to explore your story in a gracious way with the goal of increasing your ability to work with troubling thoughts, emotions, and experiences. With premarital and couples work I see the couple as the ‘client,’ and work together to stabilize the relationship in times of stress or crisis and cultivate intimacy and resilience.

I address communication/intimacy problems and all sexual concerns, including inhibited or low sexual desire, male erection and female arousal problems, premature ejaculation, painful intercourse, vaginismus, lack of orgasm, sexual and emotional skills, sexual "addiction," and sexual trauma.
When there is a sexual problem, I often work directly with physicians. The team approach facilitates a successful treatment plan focused on physical, medical, mental and relationship issues. When there is a couple, I see each person separately, then together. I specialize in sex and passion (love, lust and playfulness!).

I am licensed as a clinical social and chemical dependency counselor in both the state of Texas and Washington with over 10 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, men, women in outpatient to inpatient/residential settings.
Life is messy and complex. We all want to bring order into many areas of our lives. Where we miss the mark is thinking the goal is to completely solve every issue so we don't experience pain or suffering. Personally, professional or romantically we are going to have deficits. And along with that are the trappings of guilt, shame, fear and anxiety about them and even how to deal with them. But once you have done the work that brought you here originally you will be able to navigate life more effectively. And we both know you can live with that.

I lean heavily on racial and feminist theory in my work; owning white and male privilege is vital to understanding minority populations; it creates pathways to empathy & connection.
I am an adoptee from Colombia, S.A.; a relationship and family therapist in Washington State. I am an adoptee-focused therapist, centering adoptees and their adoptee identity development through their lived experiences; pre and post-adoption. I am also passionate about relationships regardless of their structure (Consensual non-monogamy - CNM, polyamory, LGBTQIA+, and heterosexual); I believe all individuals in a relationship deserve to be heard and witnessed, opening avenues for a broader understanding of others, and ultimately, deeper interpersonal connections.

Male Therapists
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
