Suffering and difficult times can be catalysts for profound change. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, or feeling stuck, you can experience a greater capacity for change, curiosity, connection, and life satisfaction. In therapy we'll address the symptoms you're experiencing, develop coping skills and tools for better living, and work to understand how you ended up where you are today. Additionally, we'll explore the root of your struggles in order to understand why you do the things you do, feel the way you do, and think the way you do as a way to create lasting change and transformation in your life.

Have you ever had one of those moments where you think to yourself, “How did I get here?” Life no longer feels like you’re living it, you’re merely going through the motions just to get by. You have lost yourself over the years and at this point, this cycle is so deeply embedded into your identity that you feel stuck with no way out. If you are feeling this way, I totally understand and have been where you are. Many of us are so focused on the happiness of others that we continually sacrifice ourselves and our own needs just to keep everyone else’s life in balance.

You might feel anxious much of the time—like your mind won’t slow down, your body is always on edge, or you’re bracing for something you can’t quite name. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of complex trauma, noticing patterns in relationships that leave you feeling stuck, unseen, or disconnected. Or perhaps depression has been quietly draining your energy, making even simple things feel heavy. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to face it alone.

You are there for everyone in your life who needs you…your partner, kids, parents, friends, charities, volunteer boards. Everyone can depend on you. The stressors of day to day and previously experienced challenges and traumas can drown out the voice that may have deeper connection to your intuitive, wiser and more evolving self. Being in therapy can potentially allow you to be with and listen to yourself in a unique and meaningful way. My hope is to provide an empathic environment where you can build resources/tools to calm/manage distress as you explore and heal some of the negative core beliefs keeping you from your goals and to develop more preferred beliefs about yourself. I have over 20 years of experience working with adults, couples and families.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who believes in the resilience of the human spirit. Living in society can seem chaotic and often feeling heard by others may seem impossible, yet we yearn for love and harmony. Too often, we wind up distancing ourselves because it may seem easier, but then the result is feelings of alienation and loneliness. We add to these feelings of loneliness by erecting barriers between ourselves and others which only perpetuate the problem. Therapy can offer a means of releasing energy so that barriers are removed permitting new possibilities for a more content existence.

Many of us are carrying burdens unseen by the rest of the world, choosing to hide them for various reasons. This can create an oppressive weight on us that makes it difficult for us to fully engage with our lives, not feeling like we can fully rest or let our guard down. I work with individuals who seek to quiet the inner chaos, reclaim their sense of safety, and feel at home in their own minds and bodies. Together we’ll steady your nervous system, rediscovering your confidence and courage for the next chapter of your story.

Domestic Abuse Therapists
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
