Healthy relationships provide a nourishing, supportive connection that allows those in the
relationship
the safety and freedom to love each other and themselves well, and it can feel lonely, confusing, and heartbreaking when your
relationship
feels otherwise. I work with individuals,
couples
, and romantic partnerships who are experiencing
relationship
difficulties or general mental health concerns (depression, anxiety, trauma, loss).
Relationship
difficulties often include poor communication, conflict, distance, codependence, wanting different things, working through a breach of trust, such as infidelity, and sexual concerns.

Are you feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Often anxious and sometimes depressed also? Do your problems get in the way of what you want to do or how you enjoy life? You may be a teen or college student who is constantly overthinking. Or a young adult dealing with a life transition or

issues. No matter what you're struggling with, one thing is for sure: you are ready for some relief. You’re ready to worry less and feel happier. relationship
and still feel alone? Do you find yourself feeling angry all the time? Have you started to lose hope in your
relationship
? It doesn't have to be that way. Most
couples
learn that it isn't their
partner
they are tired of, rather the problem is the negative cycle that takes over every time they try to talk or connect. Individually, we can focus on easing anxiety and depression, boosting your self-esteem and setting boundaries where necessary.

It is very important to me that the therapist-client
relationship
is collaborative and based in trust.
Your story matters. Peoples’ stories can get messy and I am not afraid to sit in that mess with my clients. I use Narrative Therapy to help clients see the power of their own story and allow me into that narrative to help redefine the messier or more broken parts. I also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients pinpoint what they value most about their story and work toward acceptance and commitment in taking action steps toward their goals.

"I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do." - Brené Brown I agree. You've already taken a courageous step. I hope to begin a counselor/client
relationship
that I believe will be a helpful, rewarding, and healing process. Choosing a mental health counselor must be an attentive and conscientious course of action. I offer both individual and group therapy to help increase your self esteem and shame resiliency, combat perfectionism, and to foster your journey towards authenticity, vulnerability, and embracing your story.

I work closely with other sexual addiction professionals as we treat the entire system (acting out
partner
, affected
partner
and family).
At it's core, therapy is a process of healing and change. The decision to address an addiction, change your struggling marriage or address the other issues that hold you back is a difficult, but important step. I work with you to strengthen your relationships, create intimate connections, and sort through the baggage of life. My approach is positive, supportive and challenging when needed. In addition to addiction work, I also do "general practitioner" work like depression, anxiety, couple/marital therapy, and other mental health issues. My office is a safe and affirming space for all gender and sexual orientations.

I truly love what I do and am inspired by seeing the real benefits that the therapeutic
relationship
can offer.
I work with individuals who feel anxious, unfulfilled, and stuck. They are looking for support around life dissatisfaction and recurring patterns that keep getting in the way. I have over 15 years of experience offering empathic and reflective counseling for those in search of clarity, direction, healing, and growth. Through our work together, you will rediscover your core strengths and potential. We will examine how past experiences may have shaped current situations and what you would like to see change. When we have a greater insight, it often leads us to increased self-worth, confidence, and personal growth.

We all long for intimate human
relationship
but for many of us, we can't seem to shake this dull aching loneliness that resides in the pit of our souls. However, the inherent human need for meaningful relationships has remained elusive. Often, it feels easier to isolate than to face the intolerable reality. We have become experts at stifling our needs and desires. But when we enter into the presence of another, when we begin to tell our stories of heartache and pain, healing begins. We need a witness to our grief, someone to join alongside us as we lament. Above all, we need a place to experience belonging.

My specialties: Loss & grief, life transition, traumas, parenting,
couples
/marriage counseling, ADHD, PTSD, depressions and anxieties.
I perceive life as a journey, consisting of searching meaning and coping: Meaning in different roles and aspects of life motivates us to move forward; coping is strategies to get there from here. However, at different life stages, we often got stuck because of different reasons. Thus, either we no longer can see the life meaning(s) and/or our coping strategies are no longer effective. We are likely stuck under these circumstances, which leads to sufferings. I believe that counseling is a catalyst to facilitate the needed changes & adjustments to get unstuck and to have a meaningful life again.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
