I'm honored when clients contact me because I know it takes a lot of courage to reach out when you feel stuck in your life and don't know how to move forward. I recognize there are many ways a person or couple can feel stuck, including low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and lack of direction in their life. I see therapy as a collaborative effort between client and therapist, and requires more than just listening (though that is important) but also requires a framework or strategy to help individuals discover who they are beyond the problems that prompt them to seek a therapist.
I look at patterns of beliefs, feelings, and behaviors that get linked with themes which interfere in an individual's or couple's life. Called Schema Therapy, it helps identify underlying causes for the difficulties clients bring in and enables us together to unlearn the patterns so they can move forward in a new direction.
I see each person as unique and individual. Since there are no two alike, I work closely with each client to uncover how best to move forward in therapy. I can incorporate a variety of approaches to best address the needs of each client. I also help clients improve communication skills in the therapeutic process.
