I use an interdisciplinary approach, which means I use different styles of counseling to meet the different needs and personalities of clients. I always allow their feedback so they remain comfortable. I try and meet their perceptual needs, emotional needs, cognitive needs, situational needs, and respect their individual personalities. I have worked with all ages, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds (including the Middle and Far East), and social economic backgrounds.

My ideal clients are interns and associate therapists who feel stuck between what they know and how they show up in session. They often second-guess themselves, feel overwhelmed, or struggle when sessions get intense. They want to be effective—not just get through supervision. We help them close that gap by building clinical confidence, tracking real-time dynamics, and strengthening their ability to lead sessions with clarity. Through direct feedback and somatic awareness, clinicians learn to trust themselves, respond intentionally, and become grounded, effective therapists—not just licensed ones.

Many people seek counseling because life simply feels 'off,' while others know exactly what’s wrong but feel stuck in the mud. Whether you are navigating guilt, anxiety, trauma, or relationship hurdles, reaching out takes courage. I commend you for taking this brave first step.

Does your mind like to remind you of all your past mistakes- rehashing old hurt and replaying what you could have done differently? Do you find yourself living in threat, weighed down by the sense that something awful is headed your way? Does the idea of feeling safe and secure with who you are seem impossible? Take a moment to reflect on what it might be like to not be bogged down by all that background noise. How might things be different for you? What would it be like to live flexibly with your thoughts and respond in kindness to your suffering?

You may be considering therapy because you feel stuck or dissatisfied about some parts of your life. You might be aware of the person you want to be and can be, but something is getting in the way of that and you would like to understand what. Or, you might need a place to talk about difficult experiences so you can make sense of them. As someone who truly believes in the healing power of therapy, I am glad you are considering it as a way of reaching your potential, regardless of whom you choose as your therapist.

Trauma impacts every area of our lives, often leaving us overwhelmed and exhausted in our attempt to restore what has been lost. Healing begins when we lean into the hurt; engaging our body, and patiently remaining in the spaces within us that need understanding and care. In our sessions together, we will work to create containment for the present, healing for the past, and hope for the future. This means developing the skills and tools needed to begin processing what has created the fear, hurt, anger, and sadness in your life, and cultivate in it's place hope, wholeness, peace, and healing.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, and complex childhood trauma, including sexual abuse, intergenerational trauma, spiritual abuse, racial identity and multicultural issues.
Being a person is hard. Living a life you love is harder. When your soul feels like it is perpetually bleeding, it feels impossible to just be and enjoy your one short life. Emotional wounds from our past have a way of wreaking havoc on our lives and bodies in the present. It puts a deep shadow over all of life. Now, you feel like a victim to your own body and a liability to your relationships. You’re afraid if people really got to know you, no one would accept you. You are not alone. I've been there and I know how scary and difficult it can be to change and enter into the unknown. You are in good company.

Trauma impacts every part of us - mind, body, spirit. It can show up as hypervigilance, isolation, panic, guilt, and shame, all of which interfere with our ability to interact with ourselves, other people, and the world around us. I have worked with complex trauma since starting my career and frequently engage in training opportunities to continue learning more and more! My primary area of specialty is working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence in both childhood and adulthood, but I have worked with a variety of trauma backgrounds. I am also experienced working with anxiety, depression, BPD, and neurodivergence.

Behind so much of how we think, what we long for, and how we relate to ourselves and others lies unacknowledged shame, trauma, and the strategies we developed, sometimes very early on, to cope with and hide these realities from ourselves. These make up the “muscle memory” of our emotional worlds, which cannot always be easily recalled, but determine our lives nonetheless. Therapy aims to cultivate awareness of what lies underneath in disconnected, dissociated ways, and provides a space to move through the pain, accept, and integrate the past so that it no longer repeats itself in our lives.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
