To this end, I often support clients in exploring the psychological dimensions of the distinctly female body-soul experiences, including the menstrual cycle; living with and relating to fertility and infertility; pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum; all forms of perinatal loss; mothering; and perimenopause and menopause.
I offer psychotherapy for women of all ages who are seeking to build genuine, abiding self-esteem, often through recovery from relational disappointments and traumas as well as from self-destructive/self-betraying behavior. I specialize in working with women of reproductive age who are exploring their big picture and purpose: defining personal standards and boundaries, finding and nurturing familial and communal commitments, and consciously considering their potential for and/or feelings about fertility. Women’s lives won’t all look the same. But we all deserve to engage deeply with the questions that are our birthright!

I specialize in perinatal and postpartum mental health concerns, including trauma related to childbirth and NICU experiences.
Since 2004, I have helped new parents (and others) view themselves with compassion. Life transitions often bring out old self-doubts, anxieties, and hurtful beliefs about ourselves and our ability to care for others. To be the emotionally-mature parents and partners we want to be, we have to examine the experiences that have shaped our nervous system responses of panic, anxiety, or depression. In our sessions, we draw from approaches like mindfulness, somatic experiencing, CBT, and music therapy, in order to advance the healing process. We assess needs and create unique strategies to move forward feeling empowered and effective.

Many of us have known heartache that doesn't seem to end, feeling down without always knowing why, or persistent worry. It's my life's passion to join people who have struggled with these experiences and help them find clarity, fulfillment, and joy. I'm excited to work with clients as they dig deeper into understanding the "why" behind their choices and motivations, so they can ultimately feel alive and vibrant no matter what they face.

I work with adults navigating ADHD, life transitions, and pregnancy, perinatal, and postpartum experiences using a neurodiversity-affirming approach.
At this point in your life, you may feel mentally overextended—carrying too many threads at once while also feeling overstimulated or depleted by the pace of daily life. You might know what you want to change, yet feel unsure where to begin, especially when urgency and exhaustion coexist. Therapy can be a place to slow things down, make sense of the noise, and find steadier footing without pressure to push through or perform. For many neurodivergent people, life feels like a constant pull between needing something solid to hold onto and needing space to move with change. Tether & Tide Counseling is built around holding both.

I work with clients from all backgrounds, creating space for each person’s singular story and identity. Many of those I support come from immigrant and/or underrepresented communities and are navigating the “bicultural condition” — the experience of belonging to multiple cultures while also feeling like an outsider in each. This experience often shapes the lives of immigrants, refugees, children of immigrants, and others whose identities have been influenced by cultural, linguistic and geopolitical events. These challenges can manifest as grief, trauma, anger, anxiety, relational difficulties and other forms of emotional distress.

Do you feel stuck, anxious, down, or disconnected from yourself or others? Maybe you’re carrying the weight of stress, life transitions, or the emotional toll of adjusting to a new environment? You might find yourself asking, “Shouldn’t life feel more manageable—or at least more meaningful?” You’re not alone. Many people face moments when everything feels too much, and reaching out is a strong and important first step.

I work with adults navigating trauma, ADHD, autism, and postpartum anxiety or depression (often people who’ve spent years trying to be “normal” in systems that weren’t designed for them).
My style is neuro-affirming, collaborative, and sometimes irreverent. Using EMDR and other trauma-focused approaches, we’ll explore the deeper patterns beneath the surface while moving at a pace that feels manageable. I don’t believe in forcing change. Instead, I believe in helping you build safety, curiosity, and authenticity.

I have certifications for working with the perinatal/ postpartum population, ADHD, and for working with couples/relationship work.
Feeling stuck? Does your inner monologue sound like: “I’m not good enough”, "I'm letting everyone down", or just a perpetual anxiety loop? How about, you feel like you're trying so hard for everyone else in your life and there’s nothing left for you. These feelings suck and can be very isolating. As a late ADHD-er/neuro-spicy person, I get it. I've worked 12 years in the mental health field with adults on issues of anxiety, ADHD, trauma, relationship stuff, shame, family of origin stuff and burnout with the goal of improving self-esteem, quality of life, and to stop beating themselves up and instead engage with self-compassion.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
