Therapy is a unique journey for each individual. My approach is eclectic and client-centered, grounded in the belief you are the expert of your own story—the traumas you've endured, the life you've lived. I’m here as a clinician who values walking alongside you, collaborating to create a plan that supports your growth, builds new skills, and helps you reconnect with the most authentic version of yourself. I truly believe each of us has a purpose—a reason for being—that can sometimes be obscured by the weight we carry. Therapy, to me, is a space to gently unpack the heaviness, to breathe, and to learn how to move forward.

Life can throw us challenges we don't expect. One day we feel like everything is going well, and then, anxiety and panic symptoms seem to come out of nowhere and overwhelm us. All you want to do is learn not to experience the repetitive thoughts, the physical symptoms, and feel healthy again. Maybe your one of those people who try to keep the family going but find yourself having difficulty keeping up with all the demands of life. Have you lost you in your busy life?

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT) to help couples identify and get to the root of their patterns, understanding the emotions that fuel them along the way.
I see individuals and relationships primarily working through issues of identity, sexuality, attachment, complex trauma, and relationship difficulties. My approach is warm and caring, but straightforward when necessary. I work through an attachment lens, as our relationships with our early caregivers inform how we attach to those we love as adults. This means we not only explore your current hurt, but the root of where that pain comes from. Through somatic techniques, I guide my clients in becoming comfortable accessing and learning from their emotions, experiences, and body's signals.

Often therapy begins with an implicit question, such as “will I be okay?” or, “can I feel better?” Other clients might wonder if they will be accepted for who they are, both in and outside of therapy. I welcome you to bring your full self into our space together. I am here to meet you where you are with warmth and unconditional positive regard. Everyone needs something a little different - to move through stuck points, to gain insight, or to reconnect with oneself or others. Whatever your needs, I believe therapy should be flexible and responsive to your individual circumstances. We will co-create an approach tailored to your goals.

I want to learn about your unique life experiences that have made you who you are. Your perspectives, passions, interests, and aspirations serve as invaluable tools in therapy and can help guide us towards the growth and future you envision. I strongly believe that therapy is an experience that must be built from trust and collaboration and I aspire to maintain a space same and judgment free. As such, I believe that being respectful and mindful of contextual factors that impact our lives (e.g., race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion/ spirituality) is an integral aspect of therapy.

You're questioning the faith you grew up with, or you've already left. Now your marriage feels strained, friends from church have pulled away, and you feel guilty every time you set a boundary with family. Maybe you've carried shame around sex and intimacy for years, rooted in what purity culture taught you about your body. You might be having panic attacks for the first time, or holding tension in your body that no amount of stretching or breathing fixes. None of this started when you left. It started with being told your body was dangerous, your questions were sinful, and love depended on your obedience.

Have you ever been told or wondered if you're "too sensitive" or "too emotional?" As if this is a shameful thing? I'll take a wild guess and say that hearing this probably doesn't help in feeling "less" emotional. This can be such a bind – maybe intense emotions/behaviors make things harder. However, a sense of acceptance, whether it comes from within or from loved ones, can profoundly support in feeling understood, safe, and resilient. And these more subtle feelings can absolutely assist in the pursuit of making necessary changes in emotional expression & related behaviors, impact on relationships, and presence day-to-day.

I see therapy as a gateway to strengthening our authentic self through healing, learning, acceptance and growth. It is often through our self-proclaimed imperfections that we find the greatest gifts, insights and points of focus that help us understand and become clear about the path we are walking and the possibilities that are before us. We have all known suffering, loss, trauma and despair. These experiences may shape us but they do not have to define us.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
