I became a therapist because I believe in human potential and have personally experienced some of the ways life can hamper the peace, joy, and healthy relationships we all deserve to have. Sometimes, things happen to us that are unhelpful, unfair, or traumatic and certainly not our choice, and other times, we’ve learned to cope with life in ways that worked for a time and just aren’t working anymore.

Positive Psychology is a valuable tool for reaching new heights, finding one's goals, and feeling supported during challenging times. A trusted psychologist tries to remind others of their strengths, how to center, maintain self-regulation and feel more solid in oneself. I specialize in supporting women, college-aged individuals, young women and teens. I have always focused on anxiety and depression and find them quite treatable when one is motivated.

I am skilled at helping with grief and loss, pain, stress, life transitions, self esteem , body image issues, and relationship issues including sex, love, and intimacy concerns.
Each of us has a wealth of wisdom within us, but circumstances sometimes prevent us from accessing our own innate wisdom. Therapy is a process of discovery and a way to receive assistance in accessing your own deep wisdom. My role as your therapist is to walk beside you on this journey and to help you make the most of your unique inner wisdom through talking, reflecting, learning, and discovering your own inner strength, resiliency, and ability to navigate life's challenges successfully.

Therapy provides a second chance. I listen carefully and thoughtfully to you. This opens up new ways of approaching problems. "Putting two heads together" lightens the load. People can inadvertently "shoot themselves in the foot," by using ways to protect themselves that were necessary in the past but now keep them from getting what they most want. Together we understand the issues you struggle with, and why these are difficult for you. Doing this in a non-judgmental relationship helps you feel more compassion for yourself. This leads to increased self esteem and a stronger sense of self.

Is your child or teen struggling with depression or anxiety? Have they experienced a traumatic event and now having a hard time sleeping due to nightmares? Do they seem to be isolating and withdrawing from activities they used to enjoy? Perhaps they seem agitated and unable to share how they are feeling. Are they anxious about returning to school now that COVID mandates have been lifted? Or maybe they are worried about being bullied when they return to school and have multiple physical complaints to avoid going back to school.

My passion is helping clients rediscover their true potentials and bring joy back into their lives. I follow a strengths-based model of practice while utilizing a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral techniques. Essentially, I believe in a holistic approach, in that all of our experiences (physical, emotional, spiritual, and social) are integral in our unique compositions. Our early experiences often show up in our current lives, and can manifest themselves in a myriad of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I value the interaction with my clients and believe in empowering clients by direct participation in the therapeutic process.

I specialize in supporting older teens and adults who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, uncertainty, grief, or are experiencing a spiritual crisis. Together, we will identify and heal your emotional pain as well as release any negative stories, habits, and/or limiting beliefs that are holding you back. What keeps you awake at night, or awakens you suddenly at three AM? Or you have that dreaded feeling of having to wake up and face the worry, or situation again with no resolution. It's not pleasant experiencing these feelings alone, feeling you have no one who can really understand, or partner with you to find some clarity, or answers. If this feels familiar, I hope you will consider contacting me. I'd be honored to partner with you, to see if together we can find your joy, clarity and the confidence to be all that you are meant to be.

What is happening for you internally? Why is your heart racing? Why did you emotionally react that way? Many of us did not grow up learning how to listen to our physical symptoms & emotions or learn that the messages they hold might be there to help us. When stress, pain, trauma, & emotions are left without care & attention they become stuck energy in our bodies. My work focuses on building safety to come into contact with those places. As we learn & understand the stuck energy, patterns, & younger parts of you we will together explore what they need & help move them forward to care for and release that stuck energy from your body.

I provide support for anyone experiencing any form of distress, depression, or anxiety. This is often expressed as unhappiness with your life, work, or relationships. Overarching my approach is an interest in the creation of meaning. How do you make sense of your experience? What do you want? How do you navigate life’s challenges and build reserves of flexibility and adaptability? Together we can explore these questions of purpose and direction to create new pathways. In addition to working with individuals; I am also a trained mediator and enjoy working with couples and family members on relationship issues.

I have experience working with couples, families and individuals of all ages from a variety of cultures/ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, and religious beliefs, as well as LGBTQIA+. My approach is integrated, operating from a systems theory background, with a lens that is relational and informed by awareness of how societal factors impact experience. Working as a certified chemical dependency counselor, I address not only the individual substance user, but the impact of use on loved ones. I see change happening through shifts from a person seeing themselves as the problem to seeing themselves as a person up against a problem.

Self Esteem Therapists
Self-esteem lives on a spectrum: Not enough self-regard (or low self esteem) can lead people to become depressed, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love (or high self-esteem), results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failure. And it's occasionally a sign of clinical narcissism. Quite the opposite of being shy or shyness, yet still on the same spectrum.
