We'll "wire in" wellbeing where you currently hold
fears
, sadness,
anxiety
, and self-judgment.
You know what over 20 years experience teaches me? Life can get better, starting today. Even after trauma, loss, or hopelessness. Even if you're anxious or think you've lost your way. Or if you're just ready for more! We all miss our best and brightest selves sometimes: the self who knows peace, strength, and connection. They're still in there! I combine the best of neuropsychology, energy work, and respect into a collaborative practice that brings your brightest self back and creates the habits to keep them. We'll attend to the body-mind-spirit and show you: you already have everything you need.

Together, we will identify and heal your emotional pain as well as release any negative stories, habits, and/or limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Are you living the life you desire? Are you paralyzed by
anxiety
or depression? Do you want to find more peace, fun, and intimacy in your personal relationships? I specialize in helping adults, couples, and families struggling with
anxiety
, depression, and trauma resolution. From day one, I am transparent with my clients about how their brains work (using biological neuroscience) and why I am asking them to engage in a certain exercise or dive into a specific aspect of their past. Knowledge is power and my goal is to empower my clients to not only reach their goals in therapy but to develop the insight, wisdom, and skill necessary to enhance all aspects of their lives.

My clinical experience includes addressing
anxiety
, depression, life transitions, family-of-origin issues, and eating disorders.
Loving presence is at the heart of my practice. I trust the inner wisdom of each individual and view the therapist-client relationship as a collaboration. We all experience challenging seasons of life. In difficult times, we may realize that our habitual behaviors and patterns of relating to others are out of alignment with our core values. In our work together, I will gently encourage self-inquiry in service of realigning with your wise, authentic self. I believe that the body holds a deep wisdom that each one of us can ultimately learn to trust.

I believe that all humans deserve to live a life that gives them personal fulfillment, peace, and more joy than hardship. I can help you work through life transitions, trauma, and all of the fear,
anxiety
, depression, and big emotions that come with them. I tend towards practices of mindfulness, grounding, acceptance, and nature- focused therapies, but my background is in biology, so I also tend to be pragmatic, evidence-focused, and like to help you understand the "why" of the practice as you take it on.

Sometimes clients who reach out to me are struggling with identifiable issues - depression,
anxiety
, addictions, stress, grief, life transitions, or illness. Sometimes they're couples grappling with the fallout of infidelity or suffering from a loss of intimacy. And sometimes new clients don't even know what the problem is. They just know something isn't working. I've been practicing for over thirty years, helping individuals and couples gain a deeper understanding of themselves and each other so they can live whole-heartedly and in the present.

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist treating individuals, couples and families with a wide range of concerns including depression,

I have experience and great passion for helping those individuals struggling with depression,
anxiety
, fear, and the memories of past traumatic experiences that continue to have an affect on how they live their lives today. After meeting with and learning more about you, we will together decide on the most effective type of therapy to help you move forward with your life. Many therapies can be successful but I believe it ultimately comes down to the relationship that develops between the client and therapist, and the amount of work and effort put into making change happen.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
