I believe therapy that combines emotional processing, skill development, and a strong therapeutic relationship can give way to a process that can be transformational for both client and therapist. When engaged in therapy, I see the potential for every person to experience newfound motivation and profound insights that lead to acknowledging new possibilities and taking action. I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including the LGBTQ+ community, the BIPOC community, individuals who struggle with substances/addictive behaviors, and individuals from various economic backgrounds.

I have a passion for helping others and offer a compassionate, safe space to help you work towards positive change. My work from a strengths-based perspective helps you recognize your strengths. Your strengths are how you have managed life as you know it. We will work together towards a solution that feels best to you. I believe we are all stronger than we know and sometimes things just get in the way. We can take time to understand the patterns that have been created in your life. While we can’t change the past, knowing your story can help you move forward.

Navigating through life's ever-changing landscape can be a complex journey, often marked by waves of anxiety, shades of depression, and the challenges of adjustment disorder. These experiences, though unique, share a common thread: they reflect our response to the world around us and the transitions we face. In my practice, I focus on understanding these emotional landscapes, creating a supportive space where you can explore and process these feelings. We'll work together to acknowledge the impact of life's shifts and the emotions they stir, fostering resilience and a deeper understanding of your personal journey.

My specialty is working with anger, anxiety, emotional regulation, and relational conflict using a wide variety of tools.
My clients are self-aware but feel stuck. They may struggle with anxiety, relationship stress, low self-esteem, or pressure from work, school, or family. They want real change, not quick fixes. They are looking for a space that feels safe while also encouraging growth. Their goals drive them to understand their habits, manage their emotions more effectively, communicate clearly, and build healthier relationships. They are seeking the comfort of a confidant; someone who will help carry that weight, and maybe have a few laughs along the way. Ultimately, they are ready to break old cycles and create something different.

People I work with often navigate: persistent self-criticism or shame, histories of trauma, difficulty managing anger or emotional intensity, grief, or life transitions that feel disorienting.
I specialize in trauma-informed care that honors the complexity of your lived experience. My approach is relational, culturally responsive, and grounded in awareness of the nervous system. I use an integrative approach because healing isn’t one-size-fits-all, drawing on interventions such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and a strengths-based approach.

I'm glad you took the first step, and are thinking about making a change to take a different direction in your life. That's the first step, is to acknowledge that you are struggling in a particular area and you are ready to take the next steps to change that direction and start heading towards the path that you had hoped and planned for yourself. Great work already! I'm glad you are here!

Consciousness is evolving. This is a complicated and stressful time to be alive, but we are all in this together and we will get through it with grit and with grace. I have over 20 years' experience working in community mental health and in private practice, and my specialties include working through the painful memories of trauma, childhood sexual abuse, family conflict/abuse, and other deprivations which create low self-esteem and cause depression and anxiety. I am also interested in how capitalist culture undermines our ability to express ourselves creatively, and how the pressure of modern life can thwart vitality and hope.

You're not looking for someone to hand you a diagnosis and a fix. You're looking for a partner in figuring out how you actually want to live — someone who'll help you get clear on your values, build the psychological flexibility to act on them even when things are hard, and strengthen the relationships that matter to you.

My goal as your future counselor would be to help you achieve what matters most to you in life. The way I see it is that our emotions can feel so utterly controlling at times and pull us in all sorts of directions. When this happens, we can be convinced that we are not capable of succeeding. I want to foster a space and introduce tools that could help you drop the ropes that we feel are tied to us and live our valued life.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
