In addition to pulling from various evidence-based practices (e.g. DBT & ACT), collaboration, honesty, and gentleness are at the heart of my work as a clinician.
I believe therapy that combines emotional processing, skill development, and a strong therapeutic relationship can give way to a process that can be transformational for both client and therapist. When engaged in therapy, I see the potential for every person to experience newfound motivation and profound insights that lead to acknowledging new possibilities and taking action. I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including the LGBTQ+ community, the BIPOC community, individuals who struggle with substances/addictive behaviors, and individuals from various economic backgrounds.

In our work together, I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness approaches, and Motivational Interviewing.
Facing anxiety, depression, or struggles with substance use can make life feel heavy and unpredictable, even when you’re doing everything you can to hold things together. These experiences are not signs of failure—they’re part of the complex challenges many people face quietly every day. I chose to become a mental health clinician because I believe in the strength it takes to seek support, and I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone chooses to show up for themselves. Therapy isn’t about fixing what's broken; it’s about creating space for change, growth, and resilience.

You are a high performer. You are used to succeeding, and have high expectations for yourself as a physician, professional, or parent. But, lately it's feeling harder than usual to meet your own expectations for success. You're feeling worn out, you're having trouble sleeping, you're stressed and you just aren't sure how to cope. You want to feel in control again, but need a little help figuring out the steps to take to get you there.

I integrate strengths based therapy, ACT, mindfulness, and nervous system awareness to support meaningful and lasting change.
I’m glad you’re here. It takes intention and courage to turn toward yourself in this way. You deserve a space where you feel supported and do not have to hold everything alone. My clients are often thoughtful and insightful people who carry a great deal internally while continuing to function at a high level in their lives. They are curious about their inner world and motivated for growth. At times they feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected. They are looking for a space to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with themselves.

Getting to the heart of intense emotions and changing the status quo can be frightening. Yet, so is the idea of remaining in a place that is no longer sustainable. You know it’s time to stop trying to fill that void with what is no longer working. It can be very difficult to step out of expectations and into your authentic self. The decision to seek professional therapy and create movement in your life says you are ready. Anxiety, depression, compulsive behaviors and negative relationship patterns can become so overwhelming that we feel distrust in everything, especially ourselves.

I often work with individuals navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, people-pleasing, and depression while seeking greater clarity and confidence. Many of my clients are thoughtful, motivated individuals who are used to holding everything together while quietly feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or never quite “good enough.” Together, we explore both the bigger picture and practical tools that support holistic emotional wellness, healthy boundaries, and purposeful growth.

Anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can show up in ways that feel heavy and isolating. Maybe it feels hard to connect, like you're moving through your days but feeling distant from yourself or others. These experiences can make it hard to trust your own instincts or feel settled in your life. I work with LGBTQIA+ adults navigating these challenges, helping them explore what’s underneath the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. I earned my degree from Grand Valley State University in 2002 and have been walking alongside clients on their healing journeys ever since.

“Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we will ever do”- Brene Brown. My clients are those who are ready and willing to take ownership of their story in a way that feels authentic and empowering. This story ownership often involves self identity work, discovering or reclaiming values, setting boundaries/interpersonal work, learning how to both accept emotions and take action, and learning to "come home" to yourself. Common issues I support are anxiety, depression, relationships, pregnancy and postpartum, life transitions, ADHD, perfectionism, and family of origin issues.

My approach is warm, direct, and relational, integrating EMDR, IFS, ACT, mindfulness and somatic work.
You’re self-aware and capable—but when it actually matters, you still feel stuck in the same frustrating patterns. You may be managing anxious tension, overthinking, or a level of fatigue that doesn’t quite make sense given how well things are going. At work or in relationships, you might notice yourself either taking on more than your share or pulling back altogether—reading between the lines, adjusting to keep things running smoothly, or shutting down from exhaustion. When this cycle kicks in, it can be hard to find a steady center or access the energy and clarity you know you’re capable of.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
