My primary orientation as a therapist is somatic, meaning as we explore conditions of the mind, we lend attention to conditions of the body. A somatic approach to therapy aims to lessen automatic responses involving stuck patterns of fight, flight and freeze. It can also help the nervous system learn to better regulate stress and activation. I am an advanced-level student of Somatic Experiencing, a body-based approach for resolving trauma-based symptoms. If you find yourself dealing with reactions, behaviors, or symptoms that seem automatic (despite your best efforts to change) a somatic approach may be worth exploring.

Therapy is a collaborative journey of self discovery and integration. Its aim is wholeness. I draw on a variety of therapeutic frameworks to meet individuals where they are at and help them identify strengths and areas of growth in their life. Together we look at how thoughts, feelings and beliefs intersect with our life transitions and relational patterns and how they contribute to our sense of well being, or misalignment. By uncovering the needs under our feelings, we learn to take personal responsibility for expressing ourselves accurately and authentically, allowing us to feel heard, valued and understood.

As a therapist, I believe that healing begins in the presence of safety, compassion, and connection. My work is rooted in a trauma-informed approach, integrating somatic awareness and expressive arts to support both mind and body in the healing process. Together, we explore not only the stories you carry, but also how they live in your body- finding pathways towards release, resilience, and renewal. I work with clients to navigate the challenges of current life transitions as well as reflecting upon and understanding the influence of their past circumstances in order to create a more peaceful future potential.

Change is possible. Research consistently shows that therapy can help, and there are many ways to get there. For some people, talking is the most important part of the work. Others benefit from mind-body approaches such as Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE), EMDR, or somatic therapies. Often, the hardest part is simply getting started.

I believe in everyone's innate capacity to heal. Everyone deserves a safe and supportive therapeutic environment which can allow one to connect to all parts of oneself and lead to a greater capacity for self awareness and self compassion. Creating this space of safety, trust and unconditional regard for my client guides all my interactions and interventions. We will work collaboratively to explore how your family history, life experiences and current stressors contribute to the issues that bring you to therapy so that you can begin to shift unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behavior that are holding you back in life.

I work with adults, adolescences, preadolescences, children, and families to help get through their challenges. I enjoy age diversity. I use an integrated approach when treating clients no matter if they are a young child, teen or an adult. I am very person-centered. What may work for one client may not work for all. I believe in identifying and tapping into one’s unique qualities and using those as tools to help one reach their goals. Having an open mind and reflecting on what you want to see change is key. Your goal could be anything from abstaining or lowering substance use, to setting healthy boundaries, to addressing trauma, to wanting to build better relationships with others, to making a career change, to wanting a better relationship with yourself.

For over 20 years, I have enjoyed working with children, adolescents and their families to improve relationships, overcome the effects of complex trauma, and foster healthy attachments between children and parents. I have experience working with attachment issues, as well as training in Trauma-Focused CBT. With children, a directive, supportive and playful approach is used to overcome shame and fear. I also treat adults with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety and personality disorders. Meeting clients where they are is important to healing emotional wounds and building confidence in personal decision making.
