I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy works best when we slow down and pay attention to what truly matters. I specialize in grief and relationships, helping people understand the emotional and relational patterns that shape how they connect, cope, and care for themselves. Occasionally we find ourselves managing relationships with loved ones, colleagues, or others who may be unwilling or unable to seek therapy themselves. I understand that sometimes the challenge is not just about your own personal growth, but how to cope with and respond to others who may not be engaged in the therapeutic process.

Anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties often get in the way of being at our best. Problems concerning anger, assertiveness, sexuality, spirituality and finding one's way in life are also more frequent than many realize. To be unshackled from these limiting psychological factors is to be quickened to growth and awakened to live out one's unique idiom. This results in more joyful aliveness, inspiration, and peace -- magnifying the difference you make in your life and in the world.

I enjoy working with a wide variety of people who are struggling with anxiety or depression, or having a hard time in a relationship. I think life is filled with challenges at all ages, and we can always make positive changes in our lives. As a therapist, I am very comfortable to talk with. I will listen carefully and work with you to figure out ways to deal with whatever is bothering you. Rather than specializing in one technique, I have training in several approaches and will flexibly use whatever is most helpful for you.

Using evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I specialize in helping people with anxiety and related problems, including depression, stress, trauma, cancer survivorship, adult ADHD, chronic pain, insomnia, and behavioral medicine.
CBT helps you change thoughts, rather than situations, in order to change painful emotions and unhelpful behaviors. It is brief, structured, and builds on the idea that emotional and behavioral reactions are learned. The goal of therapy is helping you unlearn unhelpful reactions and learn new, helpful ways of reacting.

I specialize in helping people untangle the effects of trauma, emotional abuse, and complicated relationships, especially narcissistic partners or family members.
I bring both clinical expertise and genuine human connection to every session. You will not receive a one size fits all approach here, instead, I will meet you with empathy, straight talk, and strategies that fit you. Therapy with me feels collaborative, supportive, and at times a little surprising because real change rarely comes from playing it safe.

Therapy is about healing. It's about bringing careful attention to emotional wounds (both old and new) and working with the difficult mental/emotional patterns that interfere with our ability to be healthy and happy. In my practice, I create a client-centered, safe, and confidential environment that makes this work both possible and rewarding. I participate fully in the client's process, holding the space that can allow healing to occur. Most would describe my style as interactive and relational. Depending on the client and presenting need, my treatment modality ranges between Cognitive-Behavioral, mindfulness-based, and psychodynamic.

I come to my work as a therapist from backgrounds as an artist, hospital oncology chaplain, art professor and activist, meditation teacher, lover of movement, backpacker Dharma bum, essayist, companion of rescue pups, and former Buddhist nun. I've been around the block, tried many things, succeeded and failed, and carried my heart through many of this world's wild, beautiful, boring, terrible, sacred spaces. All of which feels relevant to working with clients who dare to trust their creative and intuitive processes as they come into fierce, tender, inalienable wholeness.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
