Female Therapists in Windsor, VT
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy works best when we slow down and pay attention to what truly matters. I specialize in grief and relationships, helping people understand the emotional and relational patterns that shape how they connect, cope, and care for themselves. Occasionally we find ourselves managing relationships with loved ones, colleagues, or others who may be unwilling or unable to seek therapy themselves. I understand that sometimes the challenge is not just about your own personal growth, but how to cope with and respond to others who may not be engaged in the therapeutic process.

There are many reasons you might be here. You may be feeling depressed or anxious - or you may be in the midst of a transition – or trying to process a loss or a life change. I have been in the field of Counseling for 30 + years. I have taught at universities, conducted research, written books, and presented workshops . At the heart of all of that knowledge, the most vital thing I have learned is that it is the quality of our relationships that defines our overall well-being. More importantly, it is ultimately the relationship we have with ourselves that is the key to achieving a sense of connectedness that allows us to thrive.

Whether I am working as a psychodynamic psychotherapist or specifically as a Jungian Analyst I am always mindful of the power of the unconscious. It will exercise its might whether invited or not. I am best suited to treating clients who wish to or are compelled to journey into the dark to find meaning in their lives. I have found this process to be a combination of bringing unconscious material to the surface light in order to understand and make meaning of it, and tolerating and trusting some of what one cannot understand.

People come to therapy for many different reasons: To deal with a specific problem or concern; to develop better ways of coping with life's stresses; to overcome old obstacles; to heal from loss; to become happier, stronger and more resilient. I am committed to creating a warm and supportive environment in which my clients can explore their challenges, learn new skills, and find and use the innate strengths that they possess.

I work with people facing what many find hardest to talk about: terminal illness, grief, caring for someone dying, and, the private, unglamorous losses that fundamentally alter your life. I specialize in grief, loss, and end-of-life care. I work with those facing terminal illness and bereavement, as well as caregivers navigating anticipatory grief, exhaustion, and the weight of caring for someone who is dying or seriously ill.

You constantly worry about not doing enough or being enough, relentlessly judge and criticize yourself (maybe even thinking this is the best way to grow and learn), feel exhausted from overthinking everything. Many people are surprised to find out that even helpful strategies can backfire: perfectionism can become obsessive fault-finding, wanting to feel "prepared" can become a pattern of never trusting that you're ready. If you are looking for a therapist who can help you finally start to loosen that knot of worry and move towards feeling confident, grounded, and calm, let’s set up a time to start the conversation.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
