I have been in the mental health field for over 35 years and love what I do. Using a collaborative and holistic approach - I help people who are struggling with anxiety, life stressors and depressed moods. I will work with you to build on your strengths and values; and to learn healthier tools for coping with the challenges that life can bring you. I also work with couples; helping them to unlock chronic patterns of conflict; and to learn healthier ways of communicating- often leading to a greater feeling of understanding and closeness.

My ideal client is someone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors all connect—and who is motivated to make concrete changes in their day-to-day life. Often, this might be a college student or a young adult navigating the demands of academic work, relationships, and personal development. They may experience issues like anxiety, low mood, or stress-related burnout and want to learn practical tools for addressing these challenges.

In addition to weekday hours, I do have weekend sessions that open occasionally. I specialize in meaning and perspective. Seeing the world even in a slightly new way creates opportunities to think, feel, and act differently. I aim to build self-esteem while helping clients with insight, clarity, purpose, and relief. When appropriate I like using humor. Laughing is medicinal. Humor helps makes sense of human life.

I work with individuals and couples who are seeking to deeply understand themselves, their patterns, and what's holding them back from creating the life, relationships, and sense of peace that they desire. I use insight, levity, and compassion to help you break out of “stuckness” and create new perspectives and pathways through your challenges, all while giving you a soft place to land. If you have a thirst for knowledge, if you get off on learning about yourself and are ready to show up as the person that you want to be, let’s make it happen! I also offer EMDR and Couples Intensives- please reach out for more information!

Sometimes in life we get overwhelmed, feel stuck, and need help navigating transitions, uncertainty, or loss. The bulk of my professional experience before private practice was as a hospice social worker fostering emotional comfort for people approaching end of life. It honed my ability to hold compassionate presence while growing therapeutic approaches to meet an array of needs. I have a strong understanding of the ways losses can take shape, multiply, and be disenfranchised, how trauma can lace its way through life and shape our reactions, and ways to keep yourself afloat when life keeps stirring up storms.

The world renowned teacher, Pema Chodron, once said that "compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It is a relationship between equals". This quote speaks to the heart of my clinical practice. I view therapy as a journey that we take together, one step at a time. We will travel together on this path and find ways to support a life of health and wellbeing that are meaningful to you.

I specialize in supporting young adults, including college students, and older teens (15+). I aim to partner with clients to help them develop a strong sense of self, healthy relationships, appropriate boundaries, and effective coping skills. With so many choices and options in this 21st century, it’s not unusual to feel paralyzed, anxious or depressed, especially during life's transition periods. Suddenly it may feel as if there is no “right choice” or even “a choice”, which can trigger symptoms of depression and anxiety which affect our self-care, relationships and school/professional lives.

Life can be incredibly challenging, confusing, and overwhelming. I believe that everyone deserves a space where they feel safe to slow down, reflect, and explore their internal experience. My approach to therapy is relational and collaborative. Therapy is a place to build self-awareness, develop meaningful coping strategies, and ultimately feel more at home in yourself.

Everybody has a story. How we feel about and interpret that story has a significant impact on our quality of life and how we perceive the events that occur around us. In the therapeutic relationship, we’re given the freedom and support to explore the countless memories, experiences, and feelings that make us who we are. From that relationship we gain insight and understanding that allows us to be more intentional in not only how we act, but in how we feel about the important people around us.

I have availability on Wednesdays, and Thursday mornings! I have limited availability Tuesdays. I believe that our experiences shape us, but they do not define us. Together, we will explore the narratives you’ve carried—challenging those that no longer serve you and cultivating new perspectives rooted in strength and self-compassion. My approach is warm, collaborative, and affirming, offering a space where your emotions are validated, your experiences are honored, and your voice is empowered.

When you’re depressed, something as easy as getting up in the morning can take all your energy and motivation. Some days, you may even stay in bed all day and then get mad at yourself because you didn’t do anything all day, again. With depression, it can begin to feel like you are always going to feel this way. You feel hopeless. I get it. Feeling depressed feels terrible. But I promise, it doesn't have to be this way! You don't have to feel depressed, and therapy doesn't just have to be something that helps you cope with your depressed mood! It can help you actually feel better and stay better.
