Hi there! It is my personal belief that we are all meant to thrive physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually... including you! But we've all found ourselves at one point or another, feeling like life isn't exactly peachy. Trying to sort life out by ourselves can feel really daunting. That's where I can help. My particular specialties are working with folks who have experienced childhood trauma and/or sexual trauma, people dealing with anxiety, or challenges in their interpersonal relationships.

I enjoy working with people who are curious about who they are and what feelings and ideas make them unique. At times we all become confused or discouraged in the pursuit of our personal goals or in the relationships with those close to us. It is at these moments we can use the help of someone trained to listen carefully and help us to untangle some of the misperceptions or distortions that may be getting in our way. It is a humbling and hopeful experience to embark on therapy to make change in ourselves.

“Psychoanalysis, at its core, heals through love. Often, you may feel pain and anguish without knowing where it truly began. In a safe, non-judgmental space, in the hands of a qualified professional, you will walk an unknown path—exploring hidden places, uncovering your story, and gaining the chance to rewrite your future.”

I provide brief family coaching with parents or caregivers to help address reactive behaviors and kids' difficulty managing in the daily routine. I help famiIies commit to being regulated as the first way to address problems like anxiety, depression, traumatic events, school stressors with children, teens, adults, and elders. They learn non-verbal, creative ways of managing daily stress. We use the individual's preferred art, sensory and movement practices to better tolerate feelings and demands at home, in school or at work. A brief sustainable approach to better manage daily stress individually and within the family space.

You may be someone who feels overwhelmed, stuck, or caught in patterns that don’t make sense, even after trying to change them. At times you may feel emotionally reactive, disconnected, or unable to make decisions. In other moments, you may feel very little, while your body carries the burden through anxiety, insomnia, or physical symptoms. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and capable, yet struggle with something that feels difficult to name or understand.

I see a state of imbalance in the world that affects all beings and brings out our collective and individual defenses. These intersect with trauma, relationship issues, fear, anxiety, grief, and depression to create patterns of disharmony within our lives and our dynamics with others. I see therapy as a process of co-creatively and compassionately tending to threads of discord that have become intransigent, freeing new pathways of thinking, feeling, and being. With time and attention, therapy can help cultivate and strengthen an inner balance.

I love to work with people who are hungry for a deeper process of self-knowledge and change. Some arrive because life has made the big questions unavoidable, forcing them to re-evaluate the foundations of their worldview, relationships, and sense of self. Others come because they sense there's more to themselves to discover. They're drawn by a desire to better understand themselves, deepen their creative life, or expand into their wholeness. Each comes with the hope of finding a meaningful way to move into the future.

We all need help from time to time. We need someone who will listen, to have our back. Someone who will walk beside us and reflect, or simply listen. Together, we can work to keep you connected to the positive skills you might already have! We can find space to work through any past trauma. You might be at the beginning of a journey, in the middle or further along. I am trained to apply the therapeutic skills, encouragement and perspective you might find useful to employ yourself. Children and families are welcome! We live in a constantly changing world. Let me help strengthen your foundation...for life!

If you are struggling with sexual concerns, you have come to the right place. Some sexual concerns may include: low/high sexual desire, desire discrepancy, a sexless relationship, sexual difficulties (e.g. painful sex, early/delayed ejaculation), sexual trauma, rebuilding emotional and sexual intimacy, and unhealthy relationship patterns. Or perhaps you are struggling with compulsive sexual behaviors. You have realized that your sexual behaviors are getting out of control, or you have discovered that your partner is compulsively using sex or porn. You are feeling understandably betrayed, angry, hurt, and overwhelmed.

Currently accepting new clients. Life can be complex: relationships, family, school, work. Our lives can be further challenged by the unique aspects of our times. We are under constant bombardment of information, straining our ability to focus and compartmentalize. Factors such as trauma, shame and guilt further complicate things. My approach is to help "break it down and make it simple". This means helping people untangle their thoughts, pressures and feelings, while collaboratively devising plans aimed at learning to manage and alleviate whatever symptoms are causing distress.

I collaborate with my clients to work on what is important to them, integrating my knowledge and clinical experience to guide the process. I believe that everyone has problems at times, and that these can prevent us from having the relationships and lives we desire. I see therapy as a dialogue and am active and direct in the process. I will partner with you to change old patterns and to draw out your strengths. Most people say I have a genuine, down to earth manner which makes it possible to feel safe and speak openly.

I work with children & families. I believe that the relationship between children and families is essential to a child's well-being. When parents have the tools and education they need they are their children's best support and teachers. Parenting is the most challenging task you will undertake and when children encounter stress and difficulties it gets even harder. My goal is to support parents to have the tools they need to understand what their child is experiencing, and what the children may need from the parent and to support the parent and child along the way. I work with children 10 and under with two sub specalties

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
