I have a particular interest in working with women’s issues, self-esteem, anxiety, and life transitions.
Many of us relate to ourselves and others with a nagging sense that we are not enough, that we neither project nor embody the person we want to be. We operate from the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and that others tell about us – and often, these lenses focus on our perceived deficiencies, mistakes, and shame-filled moments. We tend to be our own harshest critics. In our work together, I will help you identify the stories that shape your life. We will explore how these stories support and challenge how you want to show up for yourself, your relationships, and the world.

I work with adult women and gender expansive individuals who are navigating experiences of anxiety, people pleasing, stress, life transitions, belonging, and self-worth.
Are you tired of feeling limited by your fears, overwhelmed by unwanted panic attacks or worn out by staying small in relationships so you don’t seem like “too much”? You may find yourself constantly worrying no matter what you do. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to quiet the constant “what-if’s” in your head and live your life. You’re ready to feel capable in handling what life throws at you. Most of all, you’re ready to feel peace, confidence, and fulfillment again.

Stuck. Overwhelmed. Lost. Frustrated. Ashamed. These are deeply painful emotions. I work with adults aged 18 and up, and these are just some of the words that many of my clients use to describe the pain that prompted them to seek therapy. For you, it might be a life transition or a difficult relationship. You might be struggling with religious/church-related trauma, or the disorienting experience of "deconstructing" a belief system that no longer fits you. Maybe, you've just been feeling sad, disconnected, or worried. No matter what, we usually want the same things: freedom. Peace. A deeper sense of and confidence in who we are.

You might be functioning “fine” and feel highly self-aware, yet still feel stuck in patterns that leave you overwhelmed and stressed. These patterns can be hard to shift alone. If you're exhausted by never feeling good enough, constant overthinking, people-pleasing, or the pressure to hold everything together, therapy can offer a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and move through life with greater ease and confidence. Together, we make sense of what’s happening and find new ways of responding that help you feel more connected to yourself and others.

Maybe your life has gotten to a place where you know it needs to change, but you feel stuck and scared. Or perhaps your life just got turned upside down—a loss, a crisis, a sudden wake-up call—and you’re not sure where to turn. Then again, you might be in a place where things are basically okay. But you yearn for a greater sense of purpose and aliveness. Whatever your specific situation, if you’re ready to take the risk of changing your life for the better, then I’m here to support, guide, and collaborate with you in making that happen.

Being human is hard, especially when struggling with decision fatigue and information overload but you don’t have to do it alone. I support adults in overcoming anxiety and overwhelm when moving through a big life transition such as graduation, career and relationship shifts. I’ll help you find clarity and calm while tuning out the noise of “shoulds” and “supposed-tos” and “what ifs?” Find confidence in your decision making and learn to trust your intuition as you move forward toward the life you’re meant to live.

Existential therapy believes that although humans are essentially alone in the world, they long to be connected with themselves and others. I seek to avoid using models that may label people. Truth is discovered subjectively, by each individual. My practice is often, directly aimed at collaboratively making sense of one's experience(s) in order to forge new meanings and develop new identities. From a strengths based perspective, I collaborate with my clients to increase self-awareness and understanding in order to transform fragile or confusing relationships into ones that can be more clear, strong and connected. This includes a specialty in working with couples.

There are moments in life that quietly unravel who we thought we were. Grief, trauma, illness, relationship changes, parenting, identity shifts, and other life transitions can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and the world around us. Sometimes healing begins in the pause, by gently slowing down to process difficult experiences and listen more closely to ourselves, our relationships, and the impact of what we’ve been through. Together, we can create space to make sense of your experiences and explore what healing, connection, and growth might look like for you.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
