The definition of trauma is a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual's ability to cope. It can manifest in many forms and can accumulate across the span of a lifetime. I work with people to help them access EMDR in order to help them build goals and utilize EMDR to process traumas in order to help support the brain's natural healing process.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a unique and well researched treatment for the processing of traumatic material. EMDR uses eye movements, or other bilateral stimulation to help access your brain's natural healing process in order to process traumas. I am EMDR trained by an EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) certified consultant.
Trauma can feel isolating, debilitating, and often times is hard to work on using talk therapy alone. EMDR treatment can be emotionally intense, which is why I also utilize Structural Dissociation Theory (SDT) to help ensure people are more ready for later phase EMDR work. Together we can build a safe space for you to process and begin your healing journey.
