Hi, I’m Danny. I’m a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC), and I have over 17 years of counseling experience. I put my master’s degree in counseling and my toolkit from my life’s winding path to use for clients who are curious about their own mental and emotional wellbeing. There are so many reasons why you might be looking for a therapist right now. The world we live in provides so many opportunities for stress and concern, and just trying to figure out how to cope can feel overwhelming. Sometimes you’re just trying to find a way through the very common feeling of: "I just don't feel right". I’m here to help.

I specialize in young adults and college students.
Not feeling comfortable in your own skin? Struggling to adjust to life changes? These are normal parts of the human experience, but sometimes they strain our typical ability to cope. Too often, we blame ourselves for our own suffering. But in blaming ourselves, we miss plenty of nuance and deny the real causes of pain. My passion is to support you as you grow into the best version of yourself. Together, we’ll explore your story. As we go down this exciting road, I’ll help you create your own life narrative which works for you.

I trust in your ability to heal yourself - Peter Levine: Trauma is pervasive and misunderstood in our fast paced world and many of us do not understand how our nervous system, brain, and soul are impacted by day to day stressful events. At the Rockbridge Wellness Group we focus on the use of somatic techniques to heal single source, complex, and developmental trauma. Therapy centers on identifying the maladaptive patterns that were established during stressful childhood experiences and moving the nervous system through a series of step to purge, heal, and establish new ways of living.

I'm really passionate about working with young adults/college students who are experiencing the transition into adulthood.
I hope to be a soft place to land for my clients as they navigate their own journey in life and create a space where they feel comfortable to be vulnerable. I think of myself as a guide to walk beside folks through the harder times and also to emphasize and highlight their strengths as they work towards their goals. Whether you are feeling stuck, wanting to learn more about managing your anxiety, or healing from trauma I see my clients as whole people and focus deeply on our therapeutic connection. I believe that this relationship is central to the work we will do together.

As a gender-expansive Autistic adult with lived experience of chronic illness and finding my own way through darkness, I know firsthand that the path forward rarely looks like you expect.
Do you feel like you're navigating a world not designed for you? Are you autistic, living with chronic illness, or have stopped feeling you have a place in the world? Perhaps anxiety, depression, burnout, or feelings of hopelessness have made it hard to see a way forward, or feel stuck in isolation or rigid thought patterns. I see individuals, couples, and families with autistic members in a queer-inclusive practice which welcomes anyone ready to build self-understanding, navigate change, and reconnect with their own strength. As a supervised pre-licensed counselor, you also gain the perspective of a seasoned licensed clinician.

My private practice serves the family around the crisis: couples, parents of adult children in addiction or recovery, and the people carrying the weight.
When addiction or loss reorganizes a family, someone ends up holding things together. Managing the crisis, watching for the next one, keeping everyone else steady. If that's you, you've probably already tried things: the hard conversations, the boundaries, maybe even therapy that circled without landing. The problem usually isn't effort. These situations run on patterns, and patterns don't change through willpower.

I work with adults and couples who are navigating anxiety, anger, compulsive behaviors, and the impact of betrayal or infidelity.

After 12 years as a school counselor and educator, I opened my private practice to support adults, particularly women and mothers, navigating the many facets of life with depth, heart, and wholeness.
Welcome! I believe that living wholeheartedly is both a radical act and a sacred return, and it's the heart of everything I do. I'm a depth-oriented psychotherapist and sacred space holder, and my work weaves together mindfulness, somatic and heart-based practices, and cyclical wisdom to guide women back to their most authentic selves, supporting healing from within, the reclamation of your full voice, and the courage to live values-driven and unapologetically whole, rooted in the rhythms and wisdom that have always lived within and around you. I hold space that is warm, grounded, real, and rooted in deep care for you.

I currently have online individual sessions and some limited in person sessions available. Openings range between 9am and 6:30pm. I work collaboratively with clients to process where they are in life, evaluate what their current needs are, and identify what in their past and present could be addressed to make changes towards identified goals. I believe the therapeutic process can only work with dedication and the willingness to allow change. I work with my clients to identify ways that they can bring what we process in session into their everyday life so they have something to work on in between session.

FAQ - About Adult Counseling
Why should adults see a therapist?
Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioral therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication. Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?
When seeking care, it’s important to understand a therapist’s treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It’s also important to consider a therapist’s training when seeking care. Therapists hold various licenses depending on their training and state requirements. Common therapy credentials include Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs). Psychologists (PhD or PsyD) receive additional doctoral-level training and may focus on assessments or more specialized therapeutic approaches. All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?
Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
