People come to therapy for many different reasons: To deal with a specific problem or concern; to develop better ways of coping with life's stresses; to overcome old obstacles; to heal from loss; to become happier, stronger and more resilient. Numerous studies have shown that one of the most important factors in helping people in therapy achieve change is a strong and trusting relationship with their therapist. I am committed to creating a warm and supportive environment in which my clients can explore their challenges, learn new skills, and find and use the innate strengths that they possess.

Is your marriage in trouble? Have you been trying to find a good solution and haven't found the right help yet? No one is ever taught how to be in a healthy romantic relationship, so it's not surprising that 50% of marriages end in divorce while another 30% of couples report significant challenges. If you have been struggling with communication issues, resentment, an affair, or a sexless marriage, then I can help. Unfortunately, almost half of the couples who get divorced report they regret it later. So before you make such an important decision about your future, let me help you give your marriage the best chance at success.

I've developed techniques based on my personality that help people change for the better as quickly, efficiently, and painlessly as possible. My ways of helping clients require me to understand how they think, compare it to the reality I see, and discuss the differences. After practicing as a clinical psychologist in rural Vermont for 36 years, I'm now a Solution-Focused Life Coach offering short term interventions to help solve minor or major feeling-related problems. I don't take notes. I don't bill insurance. To me confidentiality is a high priority.

Emotions are among our greatest human resources, though in the struggles of our lives we can think of them as problems to solve or avoid at all costs. My efforts as a therapist go towards utilization of the emotions and the experiences that elicit them, to bring about transformation and healing. I work with adults, children, teens, parents, couples, and draw from a large background of experience and training. This includes cognitive behavioral therapy, hypnosis, attachment work, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and EMDR. However, the primary value guiding the work is that the therapeutic relationship guides everything.

:) Since then, I have incorporated a variety of modalities into what I consider a very holistic practice: spirituality, mindfulness, hypnotherapy, and even health coaching.
Hi there! It is my personal belief that we are all meant to thrive physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually... including you! But we've all found ourselves at one point or another, feeling like life isn't exactly peachy. Trying to sort life out by ourselves can feel really daunting. That's where I can help. My particular specialties are working with folks who have experienced childhood trauma and/or sexual trauma, people dealing with anxiety, or challenges in their interpersonal relationships.

I work primarily with big-hearted women and femmes (cis + nonbinary), using inner child work, IFS (Internal Family Systems), and hypnotherapy to explore the roots of patterns like people-pleasing, self-doubt, and difficulty setting boundaries.
You’re the one everyone leans on—and you’re so tired. You focus on managing others emotions, feel guilty for needing rest, and have spent years staying small to keep the peace. If you're exhausted from people-pleasing, from trying to be the “reliable employee,” the “easygoing partner,” the “strong friend”—you're in the right place. You’re insightful, you care deeply, and you’ve already done so much self-reflection. Now you’re ready for something deeper—true fulfillment, more ease, and relationships where you feel fully known & cared for, and truly yourself.

I have been a life coach for over fifteen years, leading with hypnotherapy, the Emotional Freedom Technique, and Mindfulness-Based training to help with issues such as stress and anxiety, smoking cessation, weight management, personal/work relationships, traumatic events, building confidence, public speaking, and a wide range of other concerns and issues.
Are you looking to make positive changes in your personal, relationships, or work life? Feel better mentally and physically? Quit smoking, lose weight, or generally feel more confident and fulfilled? Stress and anxiety can be challenging hurdles to overcome without the proper support and tools. It’s easy to look around and see others seemingly at peace and living their lives to the fullest while you feel like you’re barely treading water. You would like to change your behavior, beliefs, or thoughts or perhaps resolve emotions that weigh you down but have yet to be as successful as you would like.

Also, to invite healing and discover a path forward, utilize HEART-CENTERED HYPNOTHERAPY as an additional tool for growth!
In 20 years of witnessing adults/children within the therapeutic relationship, I am in awe of the strength and resiliency individuals show in the face of truly traumatic events. Over the years, I have built a level of expertise in understanding the role that the transpersonal plays in the healing process. Being a Registered Play Therapist means that I have examined clinically how the story we tell ourselves about an event dictates both the burdens & the strengths we assign to our "self." I welcome you to that process of discovery and healing as we partner on the human journey together.

Invited are individuals and groups who wish to explore a deeper embodied spiritual experience utilizing Jungian Psychotherapy, Somatic Processing, Hypnotherapy, Breathwork, EMDR, NLP, and Dream/body work.
It is felt that within the therapeutic process both therapist and client ideally enter into an alliance to awaken their innate authenticity. My approach echoes the idea that when we engage our authentic or “deeper self” our highest potential may be awakened toward the creation of emotional balance. I believe this is integral to deeper and lasting recovery.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works by using guided hypnosis to help you reach a state of focus and concentration through mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition. The state is somewhat like being absorbed in a book, a movie, or your own thoughts. You are not under a therapist’s “control,” but they can help you relax and turn your attention inward to discover the resources to achieve behavior change or better manage psychological concerns. Therapy sessions may involve guiding you through recognizing a problem, releasing problematic thoughts about it, and considering and accepting more productive alternatives before returning to normal awareness. Hypnotherapy is typically used by a therapist along with traditional forms of talk therapy. Eventually, your therapist can help you learn hypnotherapy techniques yourself so you can establish a stronger sense of control on your own in stressful or challenging moments.

Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy, which is sometimes called hypnotic suggestion, is a therapeutic technique in which a therapist uses hypnosis to help patients. It is not the kind of hypnosis portrayed in stage shows, or in movies or on television. You will not be unconscious or asleep during hypnotherapy, you will not lose control of yourself, your thoughts, or your free will, and you will be able to fully recall your experience. And while you will hear your therapist’s suggestions, it is always up to you to decide whether to act on them. Hypnosis by a trained mental-health professional is not a form of mind control, which is impossible to achieve anyway.

Can everyone be hypnotized?

The most common challenge of hypnotherapy is that as many as one in four people cannot be hypnotized. Brain imaging has confirmed differences in patterns of brain connectivity between those who respond to hypnotism and those who do not. Other people who could potentially be hypnotized may not respond to the technique because of their skepticism or resistance to entering a hypnotic state. If a therapist’s “post-hypnotic suggestion” is effective, it’s because they are suggesting something you want to achieve.

Does hypnotherapy work?

Through hypnotherapy, you can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. Like other talk therapy techniques, when hypnotherapy succeeds, it’s a case of mind over matter. Effective hypnotherapy involves self-healing because you access resources you need to change inside of yourself and learn how to tap into them whenever you need. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective therapy for anxiety, phobias, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, and undesirable behaviors like smoking. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address relationship challenges, and to aid with pain management, digestive disorders, skin conditions, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
