In my 45 years of experience as a licensed therapist working with individuals and couples, I've learned that we all want understanding, respect, and love. We want fulfillment, meaning, and happiness - individually, and in our relationships. Psychotherapy can help us develop the insights and skills we need to understand, respect, and love ourselves and others. We can change worn out, old habits, build resilience, and become more of who we long to be.

You've been experiencing sexual issues recently or maybe even for some time. You may be experiencing erectile difficulties or pain during sex. You’ve tried everything you’ve found on the internet but still, it's not working the way you want. It's frustrating, isolating, infuriating, and confusing. It may even be difficult to remember a time when things didn’t feel this way. But now, you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to break the pattern and have your body and brain on the same page. You're ready for a more fulfilled sex life. And most of all, you’re ready to feel more connected in your sexuality!

For over 45 years, as both a fertility psychologist and OB/GYN with a strong interest in infertility, I have loved helping people on their fertility journey. Are you on a fertility journey? Have you experienced obstacles along the way? Perhaps nothing is as disempowering as struggling with fertility. For many of us, issues with fertility mark the first time that we've wanted our bodies to do something that they seem not capable of doing. Challenges with fertility are traumatic experiences. Is it any wonder why we may be struggling?

The couples I work with are often feeling disconnected and seeking ways to be closer emotionally and physically. Other couples I work with are feeling connected but are looking to transform their relationship style to a non-monogamous style. Many couples find themselves struggling with communication, mismatched desires, or navigating boundaries within their relationship, and even moreso when exploring non-monogamy or polyamory. You’re facing something complex that deserves care and support. We’ll work together to reduce tension, build trust, and find ways of connecting that honor both your individuality and your partnership

There is light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes it helps to have someone who will really listen, without judgement. Giving your nervous system a soft place to land, to gently and deeply heal. To let go and stop guarding against 'all the things'! When you give space for what you are going through, you begin to feel lighter, soften around places that were hurt, and find a way back to your true self. I support you in coming to deeply know and understand yourself, reclaiming self-worth and trust in your inner compass; while growing coping skills for soothing your nervous system, and managing life, emotions and relationships.

Do you want to better "see", and be, your true best self? To learn new ways of being, in good close relationship with those you should be? To shape how you think, feel, and act, more consciously? To have attainable, clear goals and steps toward them? And daily and weekly practices that keep you on track, with the help of others? Plus of course the ways to overcome the inevitable challenges and "self-made saboteurs" on that path? And to triumphantly celebrate the wins, and let go of and learn from the losses?

Gottman Method Therapists
How does the Gottman method work?
One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?
Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?
Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
