Psychoanalysis and analytic psychotherapy are relationship-based treatment models. Reasons for seeking treatment, such as depression and anxiety, are unique to each individual, as are relationships, thoughts, feelings, and perceptions. Discovering for yourself what constitutes a good therapeutic relationship develops over time through experience and insight. There is no replacement for personal experience where mental health is concerned. In the words of Wilfred Bion, "You are the most important person you are ever likely to meet. Therefore, it is of no small importance that you get on well with this important person."

If you're in college, we focus on your academic wellness as a cornerstone of your well-being. What we discover may surprise us! If your goal is a happy, organized-enough, deeply fulfilling life, and you're interested in using an integrative approach, I'd love to be of support.

I believe in everyone's innate capacity to heal. Everyone deserves a safe and supportive therapeutic environment which can allow one to connect to all parts of oneself and lead to a greater capacity for self awareness and self compassion. Creating this space of safety, trust and unconditional regard for my client guides all my interactions and interventions. We will work collaboratively to explore how your family history, life experiences and current stressors contribute to the issues that bring you to therapy so that you can begin to shift unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behavior that are holding you back in life.

I work with individuals who are seeking to better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their lives. Together, we’ll explore emotional experiences, thought patterns, and relationship dynamics with curiosity and care. My approach is aimed at helping you live with greater clarity, ease, and connection. I believe that real healing and growth come from a willingness to look inward- and that this process, while not always easy, can lead to genuine relief and lasting change.

Have you ever thought – what distinguishes healthy relationships that are able to thrive from unhealthy ones that tend to be full of stress? Is it self-will? Determination? As a couples and family therapist, I believe the one distinguishing factor is "attachment". Attachment is the ability to connect with others. Depending on our ability (or inability) to attach interpersonally, determines the overall satisfaction we experience within our intimate relationships. Also, having been a victim of racism, I opened this practice as a place that people of color can heal from the impact of both blatant and systemic oppression.

Sessions can be in my sunny office, online, or outdoors among the trees - an opportunity to gain insight and inspiration from the natural world.
As a somatic, mindfulness, and nature-based mental health counselor, I work with individual adults in identifying and affirming gifts and strengths; finding and maintaining calm, connection, and contentment; and creating new patterns that encourage health, growth, and resilience through life’s changes. A session with me might include movement exploration (informed by dance/movement therapy, ecosomatics, and yoga), awareness and compassion building exercises (mindfulness and meditation), and therapeutic conversation.

I currently see people in secure video conference or or by phone.
Currently Accepting New Clients - I do reality based, solution focused therapy influenced by existentialism and mindfulness based practices. I believe therapy and change is ultimately about questioning, constructing and understanding meaning in one's experience and exploring that in a phenomenological context. I operate from an assumption of assets versus an assumption of deficits as a counselor. I specialize in anxiety and depression, trauma, identity issues, life transitions, couples and relationships.

Now accepting new clients - focusing on families, especially mixed families, step-parenting, adoptive families. I am a family-oriented psychotherapist of the soul. I work individually with adults and youth, and with families together. How we see ourselves in our families - past, present, future - often provides the foundation for how we form our initial identity. Our identity, in turn, shapes how we act at home and in the world. The therapeutic process provides first a mirror to reflect our own sometimes hidden selves, and a light to gain unique insight into who we are and what we are here to do in this world.

I have immediate openings on Mondays for Telehealth appointments.
Availability starting January 2026! Life is challenging and I believe humans were never meant to face life’s challenges alone. I have over 6 years experience working with adult survivors of domestic and sexual violence. I understand the deep complexities of systemic and familial patterns that are often present among these issues and I offer a non-judgmental safe space to explore your unique experiences and emotions. Additionally, I enjoy working with young-adults as they transition from adolescence to adulthood - an exciting, albeit nerve wracking time as you begin to uncover who you are and how you want to show up in this world.

The most important element in therapy is creating a safe and empowering relationship. There are many barriers to seeking support and I believe it is my job to break those down. I encourage prospective clients to ask questions and develop trust in whatever way feels right to them. My education in social work has taught me to look at each individual as part of a larger picture, and to work with each individual from a place of empowerment and strength.

For the foreseeable future, I'll be offering telehealth appointments via a secure website
I believe that everyone, despite what label or diagnoses we have, deserves to be treated with fairness and empathy. We are not our past. I find great opportunity in challenging situations. My philsophy is that we are all doing the best we can based on our level of awareness. Every single being can work to expand on this. I see my role as working with you to shine a light on blind spots, thereby increasing this awareness. By doing so, we can address behavior and thought patterns which may have caused disruption in your life. Let's work to understand these parts of Self a little more.

90 and 60 min sessions available, both in person and online.
Our traumas live in our bodies. For many of us, talking about our challenges is not enough. My integrative somatic approach combines counseling and touch, working on a massage table. Rosen Method Bodywork grows our awareness of how and what we are holding. Muscle tension reveals how we have adapted around painful memories, emotions, and beliefs. Tension in the body has helped us cope, but now may limit our breath, relationships, and our full sense of aliveness. As the unconscious becomes conscious, memories and emotions often arise for us to be with and explore.

I am meeting for online sessions!
It is felt that within the therapeutic process both therapist and client ideally enter into an alliance to awaken their innate authenticity. My approach echoes the idea that when we engage our authentic or “deeper self” our highest potential may be awakened toward the creation of emotional balance. I believe this is integral to deeper and lasting recovery.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
