Are you feeling as though you are just hanging on by a thread? No one understands how you feel? Or you are on the verge of a breakdown? You may feel as though life is too hard to keep moving through, doing everything for everyone else and nothing for yourself leaving you feeling unsatisfied in life and drained. You are running on an empty tank and keep giving to others while struggling alone with anxiety and depression. It feels as though you are moving through the motions in life and not actually living it. I work with adults and teens online in Vermont who experience anxiety, depression, & effects of trauma.

Do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck in overthinking, or unsure of yourself? Many women carry intense pressure to succeed, care for others, make the right decisions, and hold everything together at work and at home. Over time, that pressure can lead to burnout, chronic stress, indecision, and a quiet sense of “I’m not enough.” You may appear capable on the outside while internally feeling emotionally drained, anxious, or trapped in racing thoughts. You don't have to push through alone. If you are ready to move from overwhelm and self-doubt toward greater calm, confidence, and emotional balance, I would be honored to support you

Maybe you’ve spent a lot of your life doing what you’re supposed to do: making the “right” choices, taking care of others, or living up to expectations you’re not sure you believe anymore. Or maybe you’re just beginning adulthood and wondering why everyone expects you to know how to do this already. I work with adults figuring out who they are, what matters to them, and what they want their lives and relationships to look like. Sometimes that involves anxiety, trauma, relationships, identity, parenting, shame, or the realization that the life you’re living doesn’t feel like yours.

I believe in everyone's innate capacity to heal. Everyone deserves a safe and supportive therapeutic environment which can allow one to connect to all parts of oneself and lead to a greater capacity for self awareness and self compassion. Creating this space of safety, trust and unconditional regard for my client guides all my interactions and interventions. We will work collaboratively to explore how your family history, life experiences and current stressors contribute to the issues that bring you to therapy so that you can begin to shift unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behavior that are holding you back in life.

The most important element in therapy is creating a safe and empowering relationship. There are many barriers to seeking support and I believe it is my job to break those down. I encourage prospective clients to ask questions and develop trust in whatever way feels right to them. My background in social work has taught me to look at each individual as part of a larger picture, and to work with each individual from a place of empowerment and strength.

I currently have online individual sessions and some limited in person sessions available. Openings range between 9am and 6:30pm. I work collaboratively with clients to process where they are in life, evaluate what their current needs are, and identify what in their past and present could be addressed to make changes towards identified goals. I believe the therapeutic process can only work with dedication and the willingness to allow change. I work with my clients to identify ways that they can bring what we process in session into their everyday life so they have something to work on in between session.

My family and friends will often ask me what type of client I work with, and my answer usually is "People like you and me." I work with people who are ready to process their past experiences, who could use some extra support during a life transition, and/or who genuinely want to create a better life. Most of my clients come to me because they are tired of feeling stuck. They want to understand themselves better, build healthier patterns, feel more confident, and move forward with intention.

At some point in life, everyone experiences problems in daily living and can use an objective, experienced therapist to help them become aware and create positive change. In my 20+ years as a licensed therapist, art therapist and licensed school psychologist, I have worked with individuals and couples from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation and ethnicities with problems ranging from difficulty in functioning to adjustments in living. My conceptualizations of challenges are generally relational and psychodynamic, but my approach may also incorporate mindfulness or systems theories. Additionally, I do psychoeducational evaluations for children and adults with suspected learning and social/emotional disorders.

You're the one everyone depends on. You remember the appointments, manage the details, anticipate problems before they happen, and somehow keep everything moving forward. From the outside, you look capable and successful. Inside, you're exhausted from carrying the mental load of work, relationships, and daily life. You may struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, or the feeling that no matter how much you do, there's always more waiting for you. Taking care of yourself often comes last—if it makes the list at all.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
