Your relationship with food and your body has taken over your life, and you’re tired of feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and alone. You may be fed up with the shame, exhausted by the lack of control, or worn down by how isolating this struggle has become. You might not even remember a time when things felt different. But one thing is clear: you’re ready for relief. You’re ready to leave the eating disorder behind. You want to feel confident, grounded, and in more control of your emotions. Most of all, you’re ready to reconnect with yourself. My clients come to therapy looking for a space where they can finally feel understood.

Not accepting new clients
Not accepting new clients at this time. I love working with adults and youth who are feeling "stuck" and are seeking ways in which they can improve their overall functioning across domains. I offer a calm and safe place that can be utilized for self-exploration and reflection. My background is rooted in trauma-informed care and transformative social work practice. I am a strong believer in the importance of authenticity in relationships. My ideal client is someone who is willing, at whatever pace makes sense to them, to collaborate on identifying solutions to overcome obstacles.

You’re not sure when "keeping it all together" became a full-time job, but lately, you’re exhausted in a way that sleep can’t fix. As a LGBTQIA+ person, you’ve spent years navigating high-stakes environments, perfecting the art of "doing it all" to feel safe or seen. But now, you’re on the brink. You feel like a shell of yourself—going through the motions at work or home, terrified that if you drop just one ball, the life you’ve built will come crashing down. Burnout isn't just about a heavy workload. For us, it’s often compounded by the fatigue of navigating a world that wasn't built for us. You want to feel energized and capable.

If you're struggling to maintain your basic needs because you are in survival mode, I see you. It can feel impossible to navigate chronic burnout, especially when the path may be blocked by barriers related to chronic illness and pain, executive functioning and sensory needs, and/or unprocessed trauma. These barriers can often be accompanied by shame and guilt, which can make it difficult to connect with others around you. While it may feel overwhelming to find a path to healing, I am here to be a supportive and non-judgmental co-navigator.

Do you want to wake up? Do you see that our thinking is conditioned and can never be the self? We are born into a dysfunctional culture that conditions us to suffer individually and collectively. This imprisons our minds into a certain way of thinking. As we see in our society, this thinking creates conflict and division within ourselves and others. Do you want to WAKE UP and break free of the conditions of the mind? Are you willing to question and dig underneath to discover the quiet essence that is you? No matter your age, I would love to guide you on your journey of letting go, Waking up, and living in joy, not sorrow.

Most people do a good job weathering the storms of life but sometimes need a warm and safe heaven away from it all where they can sit down with someone, talk things through, and begin to understand the underlying sources of some of their difficulties in life. Sometimes people need only a little help to move on, and sometimes they need more time because they want to learn as much about themselves as they possibly can. I'm seeking clients who want objective, caring, non-judgmental help in learning more about themselves.

My focus is on supporting you to find as much agency as possible, within the context of your own life and internal world. Using somatic and mindfulness tools, I will work with you to build awareness of how your body responds in the present moment to memories and stressors, either recent or in the past. Over time, we will build on that awareness so that you begin to have more choices and exercise more agency in moments when you have uncomfortable or difficult internal experiences.

Waitlist for new clients
Waitlist for new clients. Sometimes we may feel stuck. Sometimes life can become overwhelming. Sometimes we have deep emotional wounds that have long limited our ability to experience peace, joy, fulfillment, connection, and love. Sometimes we just need someone to listen, be supportive, and offer another perspective. According to Kristin Neff, "The only way to eventually free ourselves from debilitating pain is to be with it as it is. The only way out is through." I hope to offer you this space to alleviate suffering and increase self-compassion, in order to help you more effectively manage life's stressors.

No two people bring the same story to therapy. All individuals have unique needs and the outcome each person desires varies. There are some commonalities though - people seek support to reduce suffering and to find meaning and purpose in life. In a safe space we embark together to discover what this means for you, with tools and techniques needed to reduce symptoms and perhaps adjust behaviors, expectations, and boundaries. With empathy and acceptance, I will do my part to establish a rapport with you that allows us to explore your needs, the meaning behind your feelings and behaviors, and the complexities of life together.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Monkton?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
