My motto is: "Life is an Adventure!" As the years pass and my experience deepens, I find that my approach embraces Nature and Positive Psychology more and more as I help people navigate relationships, anxiety, depression, life transitions, aging and existential issues. While I am skilled and knowledgeable about how to help solve problems, work through issues and reducing symptoms, I also feel that it is my calling to help people to access their natural strengths and assets that can help them towards healing. I am currently certified as an EMDR Practitioner.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly two decades of experience with clients of all ages. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I don't rely on a single therapeutic modality. Rather, I blend the best parts of many different approaches including Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, and components of EMDR. My clients typically find me warm and validating while gently pushing them to grow in the specific areas. I have a growing practice working with people who are navigating complex relationship dynamics.

With couples and family work, I draw on communication skills which help untangle feelings and bring each person back to their core needs.
Therapy is a collaborative journey of self discovery and integration. Its aim is wholeness. I draw on a variety of therapeutic frameworks to meet individuals where they are at and help them identify strengths and areas of growth in their life. Together we look at how thoughts, feelings and beliefs intersect with our life transitions and relational patterns and how they contribute to our sense of well being, or misalignment. By uncovering the needs under our feelings, we learn to take personal responsibility for expressing ourselves accurately and authentically, allowing us to feel heard, valued and understood.

More than 30 years of practice as a psychologist has taught me that true healing arrises within a deep and trusting relationship with each individual, couple and group with whom I work.
Notice the stream of thoughts flowing through your brain that have no relevance to your awareness of what is happening right now. When we fight with our present experience we call ourselves anxious, depressed or any of the other labels. A wise Sage once said.."Give your mind to whatever comes and goes but give your heart to that which is always with you"

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
