Accepting new clients for afternoon and evening appointments. Many of us struggle to gain acceptance by masking our true self, pretending to be the person someone else wants us to be, or by avoiding social encounters altogether to avert shame and rejection. While these strategies can provide temporary relief, they often leave us feeling empty or tormented and prevent us from truly connecting with ourselves, our partners, and family and friends. Voicing your authentic self in your own time and in your own way guides the therapy process and opens pathways into healing, change, and discovering new perspectives that can provide relief.

Therapy is a restorative space that promotes health and psychological flexibility. I am expert at tuning into rich and textured conversations. My formal education, training, and reading in the subject of psychology lends depth to my practice- but the balance of a therapy is in how we manage content and process together- the therapeutic relationship. I'm a merchant of hope, and whether you are new to therapy or a veteran- there's always more to explore and discover within the psyche, bringing relief to symptoms and/or insights.

Welcome! Are you often feeling exhausted by masking, caught in cycles of perfectionism, or simply craving a space to just exist as you are without pressure to get it right? Maybe you're struggling with reconnecting to your body and mind after sexual/relational trauma or navigating the heaviness of grief, whether that be loss or transition. As someone who is a survivor, has moved through profound grief, and grew up queer/neurodivergent in a small conservative town, I understand how vital affirming support is.

Many people I have worked with have noticed how their life situation and how they are managing it has been negatively impacting on their health, wellbeing and relationships. This can show up as anxiety, depression, and a host of other difficulties. And sometimes that ends up being really complicated. I work with people who can recognize that something is not right but are willing to try to help it, even if they are not quite sure how yet.

In addition to methods from AEDP, I incorporate into my work somatic approaches, skills, and concepts from dialectical behavior therapy, Buddhist and Christian teachings, and concepts from life coaching.
I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I work with individual adults, couples, and families with adult children. We are all on a journey in which we have the opportunity (sometimes presenting itself as an urgent need) to bring our actions into better alignment with who we truly are: Love, Truth, Power, Wisdom, and Beauty.

Are you a high school, college or pro athlete who struggles with performance anxiety, overthinking, or fear of failure? Maybe you play great in practice but freeze during games, can’t let go of a mistake, or feel like your confidence disappears when it matters most. You might be tired of putting pressure on yourself to be perfect, constantly questioning whether you’re good enough, or feeling like your identity is tied to how you perform. As a former professional athlete turned therapist, I get it. I help athletes build confidence, overcome mental blocks, manage anxiety, and rediscover the joy of the game.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
