Struggling to make progress in 50-minute sessions? I provide specialized Adjunctive EMDR Intensives (1–5 days) for clients in VT & CT. I do not have weekly openings; instead, I partner with you and your primary therapist to clear specific trauma "logjams." My approach is highly intentional and semi-structured, moving through months of processing in just days. I integrate EMDR 2.0, IFS, and Attachment Theory to achieve deep, efficient healing. Visit my website to see how an intensive can jumpstart your recovery and return you to your primary therapy with a cleared path.

I have clinical experience working with college students, military members, adults in in crisis, those learning to cope with trauma, people who have experienced sexual violence, and those of us navigating life’s changes and challenges.
I believe that the right course of treatment for a client depends on who they are, what they bring into session, and how they are comfortable working. I enjoy helping individuals make meaning out of their experiences, build awareness of self, and have a space to be heard, validated and heal. I feel that a strong relationship between client and therapist is what allows for growth and the deepest level of work to be done. I strive to create a welcoming, non-judgmental, and empathetic space for that purpose.

I have always been interested in people, how they experience the world and what drives them to do what they do. I work to create space for self-exploration and self-love. Maybe you are struggling with day-to-day stressors; maybe your struggle is more existential. Anxiety and depression can create blocks to our goals, our creativity, and shut us off from our love ones. I believe you are your own expert and through our relationship, we can create meaning and action in your world.

Why am I struggling so bad? Its been long enough and I should be okay now, right? I want to move on and feel stuck. I don't have anyone who wants to hear my story and help me make sense if it. Being able to tell our stories can be cathartic and liberating and I want to offer space so you can be heard and seen. I believe that making meaning of our experiences can be powerful and I offer guidance, skills, education and practice that nurtures learning new ways of coping & managing stress. I want to support processing what's surfacing so you can begin to flourish.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly two decades of experience with clients of all ages. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I don't rely on a single therapeutic modality. Rather, I blend the best parts of many different approaches including Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, and components of EMDR. My clients typically find me warm and validating while gently pushing them to grow in the specific areas. I have a growing practice working with people who are navigating complex relationship dynamics.

I conceptualize therapy as a collaborative process in which therapist and client determine treatment content and goals, working to create an environment of compassion, challenge and insight capable of motivating those disruptive changes which constitute so much of the meaning of therapy. In attempting to individualize treatment, I cultivate an integrative responsiveness utilizing those techniques that seem best able to serve the client's needs and promote therapeutic goals. Often these goals extend beyond symptom relief to include the enhancement of psychological capacities and resources through self exploration and discovery in the context of a safe and authentic therapeutic relationship.

More than 30 years of practice as a psychologist has taught me that true healing arrises within a deep and trusting relationship with each individual, couple and group with whom I work. My colleague Dr. Peter Wrycza calls this work "Conversations on the edge of silence" Our thinking mind is a marvelous tool when it is used appropriately. The deeper problem is that the thinking mind can keep us locked into our stories of either the past or the future. Much of the work is about exploring ways to become more present in life and release the historic patterns and beliefs that keep us stuck in the illusion of separation from one another.

I have over a decade of experience with adult community mental health, substance abuse recovery, peri-natal maternal mental health, and military knowledge.
Living is both a difficult process and an experience in joy. None of us come out of this alive, they say, so we must take our role in our health with curiosity and vigor. Therapy is not reserved for crisis but for all aspects of our modern lives so let your ego rest.

Domestic Abuse Therapists
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
