Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood. I work with individuals who are in the process of discovering who they are and how they want to show up in the world. You may be navigating complex family issues, pursuing healthy friendships and relationships, and figuring out self-acceptance. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed as you sort through what matters to you, how your past has shaped you, and what you want your future to look like. I'm here to help you explore your feelings, experiences, and feel confident about yourself and your place in the world.

I invite clients into a supportive atmosphere where they can share and explore their different emotions, experience empathy, and being fully heard. Clients will develop skills to better manage their upsets, fears, or relational challenges, both past and present. From a mindful perspective, I challenge clients to create a ‘half-full' mindset, to gradually move beyond emotional reactivity or overwhelm. Regardless of the challenge, clients will learn to see the opportunities in life, rather than falling victim to upsets, and will gradually move into a new way of being - one with a renewed sense of possibility, peace, and freedom.

As a relational / psychodynamic therapist I believe that the path toward healing flows through deep exploration of relationships - past, present, and right here in this room.
I named my practice "Confluence Psychotherapy" because a confluence is the point when two rivers meet - a point when together what has been separate becomes fuller, deeper, more powerful together. Like a moment when you lose yourself in dance or play, the right connection can help us to find what we need in unexpected and surprising ways. Good therapy can be like that - at times difficult but in the end, exhilarating. I specialize in working through trauma of all forms with older teens and adults of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds.

You may feel emotionally unsettled, internally fragmented, or unsure how to make sense of recurring patterns in your relationships, desires, or sense of self. You might be functioning well on the outside while feeling constrained, disconnected, or quietly dissatisfied inside. Many people who seek my work are thoughtful, psychologically curious, and self-aware, yet sense that understanding alone has not brought the integration or ease they are seeking. Therapy may feel like a way to deepen self-experience, develop greater coherence, and live with more clarity, alignment, and emotional continuity.

Do you wish you had a better understanding of yourself or your child? Are you trying to break generational cycles but not sure how to do it? Do you wish you felt better, but you’re not sure where to start? We all want to feel understood, to know that we belong, and to have a meaningful purpose in life. There can be immense pressure to have it all figured out and fit in. There are so many opinions of what we “should” do and who we “should” be, but what if that isn’t working? The answer is simple — figuring out what works for you, your family, or your child — sometimes getting there isn’t so easy, and we need help.

My ideal client is at a crossroads. They are high functioning but burdened by stress, grief, or identity confusion. They seek more than symptom relief; they long for purpose, integration, and a greater sense of authenticity. Often navigating trauma, a lack of supportive relationships, or nagging existential questions, they need a therapist who holds both a diverse clinical skillset and a deep respect for his clients. Client goals often include minimizing depression or anxiety symptoms, but each individual is unique. Ultimately, clients desire to feel empowered to grow into the best version of themselves. I can help with that.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
