Okay. Here's the thing. Nobody really knows how therapy works, or why some people get better with one approach and some another. What we do know is that if you connect with your therapist, and if you really commit to digging in and doing the work, healing and change can happen, and things can get better. And I can help you with that. I'll listen to you. I'll pay close attention. I'll meet you where you're at, with empathy and compassion and even some humor. And I'll tell you the truth.

Earth school isn't easy. It brings up all kinds of feelings that can be intense, frightening and painful. We all benefit from being in the presence of someone who can support us to be with those feelings, to allow them and learn from them. Someone who can remind us of our own wisdom and how to follow it.

Yeah, I get it. Life can be hard. Really hard. Stress, anxiety, depression, fear, confusion, doubt, self-hatred, relationship chaos...who wants to feel any of that for a second, much less dig in and REALLY root around in the muck? But here's the thing: that's how the work works. We learn to sit with the discomfort long enough to learn about it, heal, and grow. That's what I'm here for - to be the mirror of your truth and your partner in the process. I'll see you for your best self, meet you where you're at, and together, we'll find a way through. Not to a perfect life (nobody has that), but to more ease in your own skin.

Are you feeling as though you are just hanging on by a thread? No one understands how you feel? Or you are on the verge of a breakdown? You may feel as though life is too hard to keep moving through, doing everything for everyone else and nothing for yourself leaving you feeling unsatisfied in life and drained. You are running on an empty tank and keep giving to others while struggling alone with anxiety and depression. It feels as though you are moving through the motions in life and not actually living it. I work with adults and teens online in Vermont who experience anxiety, depression, & effects of trauma.

Sometimes the life that looks most successful from the outside is the one that feels most costly behind closed doors. My clients are high-achieving professionals and couples who are respected, capable, and visibly accomplished — and who are quietly overwhelmed, whether at work, at home, or both. They may be excelling professionally while struggling personally, or finding that the patterns that built their success are no longer sustainable in either domain. They aren't falling apart. They're tired of mistaking endurance for wellbeing.

I offer short-term therapy for individuals and couples in a season of change. I work most often with women, queer folks, and parents; couples trying to find their way back to each other or navigating separation or divorce; service-based professionals experiencing burnout and wanting to reimagine their business practices; and more generally adults looking for an unconventional, creative path forward. My approach is intuitive and interactive, a blend of both depth work and a clear focus on desired outcomes. I draw primarily from somatic, emotion-focused and attachment-based modalities.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
