Do you speak to yourself harshly? In ways that you would never speak to another person? Are you feeling trapped in a career, relationship, or other significant areas of your life? Is the weight of constant financial stress taking a toll on your well-being? Do communication struggles leave you feeling isolated, undermining your mood, fostering intimacy issues, and breeding distrust? If you find yourself experiencing an increasing sense of disconnection, conflict, and hostility, it's likely that you are caught in a pattern of thoughts and behaviors that are blocking your path to the life you desire and deserve.

I treat trauma, low self-esteem, shame, and anger.
Feeling stuck in patterns you cannot break? In stressful moments, you might find yourself reacting too quickly by getting loud or angry, only to face intense guilt and shame right after. Other times, your system completely overloads. You might go blank, freeze, and shut down because you simply do not know what to say. You crave deep connection, but putting yourself out there feels incredibly risky. Knowing these protective loops exist does not make them easy to change. I help you safely step out of survival mode and begin to heal.

I wish to serve as a guide for my clients on their own journey towards self-discovery. I am practicing humanistic psychology and my primary focus is to create an empathetic, non-judgmental, and safe therapeutic relationship. By using person-centered counseling, I am able to help my clients discover their authentic selves. I wish to help reduce anxiety and aid my clients in developing a positive self-image for themselves. I am interested in learning and understanding my clients’ self-perceptions and view of their own reality. My belief is that our worth is conditioned by others and this often can be detrimental to our mental health.

My family and friends will often ask me what type of client I work with, and my answer usually is "People like you and me." I work with people who are ready to process their past experiences, who could use some extra support during a life transition, and/or who genuinely want to create a better life. Most of my clients come to me because they are tired of feeling stuck. They want to understand themselves better, build healthier patterns, feel more confident, and move forward with intention.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
