Hello folks! I'm Jimmy. I'm a gender-queer non-monogamous therapist. I work with couples and folks with alternative sexualities and relationship structures. I am trauma-informed and neuro-diverse affirming. All services are telehealth. I only accept out-of-pocket payment. I do not take insurance, but I can provide superbills for clients wanting to use out-of-network benefits. I want to make my services as accessible as possible. If you are needing a reduced rate, ask me about my sliding scale in the consultation.

I integrate a blend of evidence based approaches that encourage healing as a whole person, and am currently self pay or out of network .
We work with a diverse group of clients, and we love that. I am the owner of Inner Lakes Therapy, a group practice of talented, diverse therapists with a range of specialties and identities, dedicated to providing therapy through a social justice lens. We have immediate openings. I specialize in providing compassionate treatment of trauma, and my clients appreciate my eclectic, flexible, and integrative approach to therapy, and a space where they feel they can be accepted for who they are, without judgment. My clients often value creative or out-of-the-box techniques. I offer 3 and 6 hour EMDR trauma treatment intensives.

Understanding symptoms like depression, anxiety and fears is a core part of the work; transforming them into agency, self mastery and compassion is the purpose. I work with adult relationship issues- sexuality/divorce/trust/; career and educational crossroads and decisions; health and medical issues that impinge a sense of stability and safety; help with aging parents or ill family members. Creating safety as your explore is my goal.

Specialty areas include depression, anxiety, BPD spectrum, trauma, substance use, and interpersonal conflict. The focus of my practice is integrative individual psychotherapy and I primarily draw from psychodynamic, interpersonal, and cognitive/behavioral approaches (including ACT, DBT, CBT). **Sadly, I'm currently unable to take any new clients, but please check back, as I will update here when I have openings again. ** Hello, and welcome. Have you come here for change, or has change come for you? We seek therapy for many reasons- support, perspective, collaborative help- and our struggles have many names- anxiety, depression, anger, grief, fear, loss, and loneliness. Who have you been, who are you now, and who would you like to be? Where do you fit into this world, and what do you have to offer? What would you say, and how? Bring your questions, theories, fears and frustrations, confusion, curiosity, and courage.

As a therapist, my approach is grounded in blending Internal Family Systems (IFS) understandings (includes psychodynamic and mindfulness practices) and somatic psychotherapy to increase aliveness, build meta-cognitive self-understanding, and promote self-regulation. This approach works with the whole person by addressing conflicts cognitively, emotionally and physically. Clients can gain greater awareness of old patterns of action and reaction, increased capacity to tolerate and resolve conflict or trauma and enhanced ability to experience pleasure.

I work primarily with adults and adolescents. This includes family work in support of the individual work, but I do not do ongoing family or couples therapy. I have experience working with a broad range of patients but most of my experience is with difficulties associated with depression, anxiety, trauma (PTSD), problems with expression of anger, and teen/parent conflicts.

Hi there! It is my personal belief that we are all meant to thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally (that includes you). But we've all found ourselves at one point or another, feeling like life isn't exactly peachy... and trying to sort life out can feel really daunting. That's where I can help. My particular specialties are working with folks who have experienced sexual trauma and/or childhood trauma, people dealing with anxiety, or challenges in their interpersonal relationships.

I enjoy working with young adult and adult clients, those seeking to engage in a change process and identify patterns that are keeping them stuck, whether in relationship to self, their support system or their environment. I also provide services for wilderness therapy guides in search of their own therapeutic support or those looking to intentionally process their field work. I works with clients to determine their therapeutic goals and draw upon techniques from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, IFS, EMDR, Narrative and experiential modalities.

I work with adults, older adolescents, and couples, and facilitate groups. I treat depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, family of origin issues, OCD, trauma, and grief/loss. Life is difficult and often painful - much more so for some than for others. This pain brings people to therapy to engage in a process that is itself often painful; and yet they do so willingly and with hope. I am continually inspired by my clients as they engage in this process and come to see themselves in new ways, and make choices that allow them to live more fully.

Many people look for a counselor when they recognize repeating patterns that aren't serving them well. They seek to understand how they got there. This pattern could be depression, overeating, low self-esteem, difficult relationships, parenting issues, body image, etc. I can provide assistance toward understanding and improving your patterns by helping you to reframe and overcome challenges you face through a positive lens. We can explore an array of informed, viable solutions, illuminating and reinforcing support systems, identifying and evaluating coping tools, their efficacy, and gaining new ones.

How can I find a therapist in Burlington?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
