We could all benefit from support at times. Someone who is willing to listen. Someone to provide an outside perspective. We can work together to help you stay connected to your positive parenting skills, your need to find calm or perhaps work through a past trauma. You may be at the beginning of a journey, in the middle or further along. Wherever you are, connect with someone who provides encouragement and perspective. Children and families are welcome! We live in an ever changing world. Let's do something to help strengthen our foundation...for life!

People want and need to grow in their capacity to experience emotional intimacy with self, other, and even the universe. Emotional intimacy is deep connection, coupled with an absence of fear and freedom of expression. My personal and professional experience is that when humans feel safe and truly heard, we are able to be more aware of our full range of experience. If, in this state, we ask or are met by the right questions, personal truth springs forward.

Do you "overthink"? Are you constantly criticizing yourself? Are you often fearing the worst-case scenario? Do you find it difficult to get through the day without worry, stress, or even panic? I help queer and trans adults struggling with eating disorders and other roadblocks to embodiment, feel safe in their whole dynamic selves. Do you feel that if you were a little more perfect, you would feel belonging, love, or acceptance? That if you only showed up like that or just tried harder, then you would love who you are? Do you crave to feel safe in your own being but are unclear on how to get there? Perhaps you understand how complex you are as a person but notice an uncomfortable resistance when you try and unearth these new parts. I would love to support you in becoming your most authentic self.

Hello folks! I'm Jimmy. I'm a gender-queer non-monogamous therapist. I work with couples and folks with alternative sexualities and relationship structures. I am trauma-informed and neuro-diverse affirming. All services are telehealth. I only accept out-of-pocket payment. I do not take insurance, but I can provide superbills for clients wanting to use out-of-network benefits. I want to make my services as accessible as possible. If you are needing a reduced rate, ask me about my sliding scale in the consultation.

I have a few spots open for April 2023 new client intake appointments. My aim is to help you address problematic ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving by way of examining the ways in which you perceive the world around you. The goal is to assist you in reaching a position of appreciation for your genuine self (for you are the perfect you!) and an acceptance of the events that occur in your life. I would be honored to take part in your journey of discovering the narratives which potentially distort reality and lead to discomfort, diminished self-worth, or other barriers to attaining contentment.

Making positive changes in life can feel overwhelming but can be easier with the support of a counselor. I am an experienced clinician and I have assisted people through some incredibly difficult periods. My goal is to help you create a healthy and enjoyable life by identifying and developing your strengths and supports, enhance your ability to emotionally manage life's ups and downs, improve relationships with loved ones, and enhance your self-esteem. Due to the Covid pandemic I am strictly doing remote sessions by either phone or video. This has been a significant change to my work but I have come to enjoy distance counseling.

I am most interested in embodying wise love in relationship. The sentiment is simple enough, but the reality requires ongoing reflection, learning, healing, attunement, humility, and ever-deepening wisdom. I help individuals, couples, and groups move through stuck patterns and develop capacities to embody wise love and freedom.

The ideal clients I am reaching out to are interested in participating in teletherapy, either individually or as couples. Due to a number of breaking developments, I have decided to convert my long-running practice to online therapy. I have professional counseling licenses in Vermont, MIssouri, and Illinois. I work from Missouri. Furthermore, I am seeking clients who prefer to work outside of the insurance system. I am rebooting my practice to offer high-qualify and affordable therapy. If you are interested, all you would need is Skype or Zoom (both are free downloads). I am offering 45 minute sessions for $70.

We are co-creators, lead by you, the expert in your healing and challenges. In a non pathologizing relationship that is rooted in trust, empathy, and curiosity, we can sit with difficult feelings, symptoms and experiences. Together we cultivate self-understanding and acceptance as they are the sources of empowerment and authenticity. In order to heal, we must sift through painful experiences, narratives, and feelings. Therapy is difficult and rewarding work that requires bravery, authenticity, and self-forgiveness. Acknowledging our growth edges while also releasing burdens that are no longer serving us.

Many people look for a counselor when they recognize repeating patterns that aren't serving them well. They seek to understand how they got there. This pattern could be depression, overeating, low self-esteem, difficult relationships, parenting issues, body image, etc. I can provide assistance toward understanding and improving your patterns by helping you to reframe and overcome challenges you face through a positive lens. We can explore an array of informed, viable solutions, illuminating and reinforcing support systems, identifying and evaluating coping tools, their efficacy, and gaining new ones.

How can I find a therapist in Burlington?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
