During the summer, I will be offering appointments in-person and online on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Imagine having a time in your schedule to feel completely safe to laugh, cry, complain, and be unapologetically honest, allowing you to learn, heal, and grow...that's what I want our therapy sessions to be like! I particularly enjoy working with people with anxiety and depression, as well as relational and family issues. Let's work together to explore how fractures in relationships, negative self-talk, and maladaptive behaviors are causing distress your life. I work to build supportive relationships with people of all walks of life to help work through a variety of issues that life throws at us.

Compassionate, respectful and straightforward psychotherapy. I work with people who are struggling with decisions, feelings and situations that may feel unmanageable. This can look like renegotiating your relationship with substance use, exploring relationship stress, learning about boundaries, managing the demands of care-giving, coping with chronic pain and illness, grieving a loss or some combination of all of the above. I do a lot of listening. But therapy also looks like practicing grounding exercises to learn how to calm an anxiety attack, creating a family tree or gaining new insight on the story of your life.

Therapy is a wonderful space to build resilience. Through cultivating awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and sensations, we can break unwanted patterns of avoidance, reactivity, or shutting down. Through replacing judgment with mindfulness and self-criticism with self-compassion, we gain a greater sense of agency. Through understanding ourselves within our biological, social, and historical context, we are reminded of a shared humanity.

Currently accepting clients for telehealth services Monday through Thursday and Tuesdays in person.
Whether we realize it or not, we're all carrying around a bag: some of us carry a suitcase, others a backpack, and some push around a luggage cart or two overflowing with their bags. Why not downsize a bit? Therapy is all about you. Yes, you'll talk about other people, most likely. But it's not an hour about how they feel; it's an hour about how you feel. It's an hour to be completely open and honest about your life without judgement or interruption. And you deserve it.

I specialize in helping people overcome complex and “difficult-to-treat” problems. Clients often come to therapy feeling "stuck" and wanting more freedom in their choices. I work with clients to help identify and bring light to the strategies that we often use to avoid our feelings and keep us locked in patterns we want to shift.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
