I incorporate aspects of ACT, CBT, DBT, and EMDR to create an individualized approach for the people that I serve.
I work with individuals that are struggling with behaviors that likely stemmed from earlier experiences. Together we will explore the root cause of your current experiences and how current behaviors developed. While I incorporate a number of different therapeutic approaches to working with individuals, I offer a very individualized approach to every person that I work with. During our time together we will explore what works well for you and what does not work well for you in order to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself.

I specialize in DBT and CBT therapy, so I often use ideas from those models as well as others.
My ideal client would be anyone who wants to bring a change to their lives. Someone who feels unfulfilled currently. Someone who has aspirations, dreams, and goals. Someone who struggles with their past. Someone who struggles with relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression, expressing or understanding the depths and origins of their emotions. Someone who feels ready to start both diving deep and climbing mountains. To put it succinctly: If you're looking at this page, rest assured, you matter, and I would love to work with you.

My work is trauma-informed, grounded in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT, ERP, & DBT.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you are used to handling things on your own. On the outside, life may look fine however, you might feel something different - anxious, burnt out, overwhelmed, or even numb. I work with teens, college students, and professionals who are used to pushing themselves to meet expectations, but feel stuck underneath. I offer in-person therapy in Barre, Vermont, and telehealth across Vermont and Maryland.

I work from a person centered orientation and combine narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, and or motivational interviewing (MI) together to address the whole person
I use an integrated approach when treating clients no matter if they are a young child, teen or an adult. I am very person-centered. What may work for one client may not work for all. I believe in identifying and tapping into one’s unique qualities and using those as tools to help one reach their goals. Having an open mind and reflecting on what you want to see change is key. Your goal could be anything from abstaining or lowering substance use, to setting healthy boundaries, to addressing trauma, to wanting to build better relationships with others, to making a career change, to wanting a better relationship with yourself.

I use an integrated approach so it is tailored to you, I lean on ACT, DBT, and Compassion Focused often.
Life is full of emotions, sometimes its joy but sometimes its a sense of struggling and pain. Anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and relationship/marital problems can all add to this sense of struggling. Especially, when we aren't well equipped to withstand it. Sometimes that struggle feels like this heavy cloud or mask we walk around with. Sometimes that struggle isolates us and causes us to become disconnected from ourselves or our loved ones. Playing tug of war with that struggle only makes it more draining. Let's figure out a way to make that struggle less intense together.

e person-centered, CBT, and DBT.
No two people bring the same story to therapy. All individuals have unique needs and the outcome each person desires varies. There are some commonalities though - people seek support to reduce suffering and to find meaning and purpose in life. In a safe space we embark together to discover what this means for you, with tools and techniques needed to reduce symptoms and perhaps adjust behaviors, expectations, and boundaries. With empathy and acceptance, I will do my part to establish a rapport with you that allows us to explore your needs, the meaning behind your feelings and behaviors, and the complexities of life together.

My approach is integrative and relational, drawing primarily from DBT skills training and mindfulness-based CBT techniques.
Do you feel like you’ve had to hide parts of yourself or like you’re constantly shrinking to meet the expectations of everyone else? I’m a trauma-informed therapist working with adults and teens navigating anxiety and disconnection from self. The folks I'm passionate about supporting often carry stories about who they were “supposed” to be. These stories can be rooted in family dynamics, gender roles, and cultural expectations. In our work together, we’ll explore how your experiences have shaped the way you move through the world and how you can begin to show up more fully and freely.

Life just isn't what you thought it would be. You sometimes wonder if your relationships bring you more pain than they do joy. It's hard to show others the real you, which leaves you feeling unseen, alone, and uncared for. Maybe you find yourself repeating patterns that sabotage your wellbeing. Does this sound familiar? If so, I would love to meet you! I pride myself on working with couples and individuals who, tired of living beneath their potential, are truly ready to face their struggles, move through the pain that's holding them back, and access the authentic love, connection and confidence they’ve been searching for.

In our journeys through life we experience both pleasurable and distressing events. When these events reach a level of trauma and are not processed or effectively integrated, individuals may rely on less adaptive strategies to manage discomfort, stress and change. These strategies can negatively influence the way we perceive and interact with the world and affect our intuitive nature and our intentionality for seeking meaning and experiencing joy. My practice is informed by a deeply attuned and heartfelt approach to my client’s emotional wellbeing. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
