Some of my favorite issues to unwind are the complexities of attachment wounds, parenting, birth trauma, and medical trauma.
Please note I am only accepting referrals for intensives at this time.
Clients work with me to find the person hidden behind the protective walls they have built up to feel safe. They need, and want, to feel close to family and friends again but are scared it might not work out in their favor. Their goals are often to love themselves, speak up for themselves, and know they are capable no matter how hard life may be in this season. My clients want to let the past be the past and have their future go the way they've envisioned for so long.

Do you have past trauma that you still carry around despite your best efforts to cope?
In this small town area in the small state of Vermont, confidentiality can be an issue for professional people in the Medical/Health field. I hold strong confidentiality standards to reduce risk for our healthcare workforce and others who might shy away from getting help because they don't want to feel exposed.

Our history, experiences and trauma affect not only who we are but also how we interact with the world.
Mental and emotional wounds are similar to physical wounds. Often times, however, instead of treating our psychological wounds, we simply bandage them and allow them to fester and get infected. I provide a sacred, safe space to clean, rebandage and begin to heal these wounds.

For over 20 years, I have enjoyed working with children, adolescents and their families to improve relationships, overcome the effects of complex trauma, and foster healthy attachments between children and parents.
Utilizing an eclectic approach, I address each client's concerns with empathy and honesty. I engage with clients in defining the issues that bring them to therapy--which often change based on insights gained through the process--and facilitate positive change using the most appropriate model(s).

When these events reach a level of trauma and are not processed or effectively integrated, individuals may rely on less adaptive strategies to manage discomfort, stress and change.
My practice is grounded in internal family systems, sensorimotor methods, narrative therapy techniques, mindfulness practices and guided self-reflection to assist clients in a holistic healing process. In my work with children I incorporate play, social learning and sensorimotor activities to impart self-regulatory and social skills.

I'm EMDR certified to help clients move beyond "big T" and "little t" trauma.
Everyone has the capacity to grow and to heal. It's easy to get stuck in patterns that no longer serve us, limit our perspective and perpetuate suffering. I'd like to help you explore what you need to gain resilience, to discover joy. I'm a good active listener with a big heart. My art background and compassion practice inform all I do. In therapy, we'll look at the larger picture together: notice the patterns and the narratives you've created about them, the self-judgments, the emotions that can (but don't need to) run the show, the places you feel stuck. My practice is client-centered. I honor you and your self-expertise.

I use mindfulness-based practices, family systems, and a strengths-based approach to healing trauma.
You don’t feel ready for what you’re going through. You may be facing hardship because of gender role non-conformity, capitalist abuses, queerness, poverty, racism, classism, misogyny, ageism, adultism. You are feeling more pain around being marginalized than pride in who you are. The feeling of “not - enough” is your long-time companion. The search for an identity that you can claim with confidence is a source of pain and confusion. You struggle to show-up for yourself in the face of perfectionism and White Body Supremacy that erases and destroys your uniqueness. You’ve frequently felt yourself to be an imposter.

I offer a warm and safe therapy environment, and specialize in childhood and adult issues related to trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life-stage transitions, relationships and identity questions.
Consider we create belief systems around experience... past, present or future. At best, beliefs are flexible, forgiving, and optimistic, and we feel mostly in sync with humanity. Sometimes, perhaps due to old patterns of functional behavior, traumatic memories/events, or just familiarity, beliefs and attachments may interfere with growth and healing, and become the root of suffering. If this is true for you, together we'll uncover paths to more adaptive, compassionate self-narratives, while learning ways to hold experience to increase your life's meaning.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
