I have been a psychotherapist for over 30 years. Early in my career I co-authored a book called Relationships, which explored how marriages either succeeded or failed. My work on the book helped me formulate a way of working with couples, one that was supportive of struggle in the interest of strengthening the relationship bond. I attempt to help couples not only survive but also to thrive. In addition, I do long- term psychodynamic work with individuals . I have worked with many people struggling with depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress.
I see my role being one where I accompany clients so that they feel safely and warmly held through some of life's greater challenges. My clients range in age from 16 to 90.I also work with caregivers who often struggle with the fear of losing a loved one.
For the past several decades I've become increasingly involved in working with people with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. And at times, when the person who is ill doesn't survive, I work with grieving family members. I facilitate bereavement, caregiver and cancer support groups as well.
