I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a professional clinical counselor. I have an extensive history in this field and have helped all sorts of people. I worked for 20 years in the male and female psychiatric security units in county jail. I have also worked extensively with troubled youth and state prison inmates as they transition back to society, and I also have extensive experience with Military/veterans and first responders, addressing both mental health and addiction issues while I worked at Veterans Village of San Diego.
I am fundamentally client-centered (Rogerian) and aim towards the resolution of the presenting problems while also focusing on the client getting the maximum and most productive self-actualization or personal growth possible. Like any good therapist, I use whatever the most appropriate interventions are to specifically address and resolve my client's needs.
I work with all the non-traditional or non-mainstream types of clients/civilians, ranging from veterans and first responders, to alternate sexuality/lifestyles. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to connect with a client's humanity when helping them, not so much worry about "classifying" their "type."
