Do you have trouble forming meaningful relationships with others due to
trauma
? Feelings of shame, guilt, and betrayal can be huge roadblocks to connecting with others. Oftentimes, those who have gone through traumatic experiences such as childhood abuse, bullying, abusive romantic relationships, or even combat find it difficult to relate with others on a deeper, more vulnerable level. This may lead to feeling like you’re somehow “broken”, that you’re too fundamentally different from others, and that you may have to go through life without friends or partners.

I have been licensed since 2011, am
trauma
informed, and I have successfully used IFS with my clients since 2018 to help them better manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, complex
PTSD
, self-harm, ADHD, and Bipolar Disorder.
Realizing that you need therapy and addressing emotional struggles, is a scary and daunting process. It takes a profound amount of courage to engage in the therapy and as a result, I begin by following where you are most comfortable. As I begin to understand where you are at, I will teach you a new way of relating to yourself and with others through a technique known as Internal Family Systems (IFS). In time, you will find more inner trust, confidence, and self-compassion. For those with
trauma
, we can use this technique to help parts of you that are in emotional distress and provide those parts of you with relief.

I have over ten years of experience working with individuals living with and overcoming
trauma
, childhood abuse/neglect, divorce, loss of identity, and a variety of other life challenges.
We are all navigating our own unique journey and must find a way to respond to the things that knock us off our path, such as
trauma
, divorce, abuse, life transitions, infidelity, grief, or simply losing our own sense of direction and purpose. Depression, anxiety, helplessness, confusion, and fear are common reactions. Therapy can help create a new path that results in a secure sense of self-worth, purpose, and improved quality of life. We don't always choose the things that change the course of our lives, but we can choose how to react to them. Seeking therapy is courageous step and I am here to help. Call for a 15 min consult!

Accepting new Clients. .. You’re here searching for a therapist because on some level you know that something needs to shift. Maybe you don’t even know what “it is” but you do know that you can’t keep this up. You’re stressed out and find yourself scared, worried, and you’re coping in ways that don’t work for anymore. Not sleeping enough, sleeping too much, skipping meals, running a race in your mind of all the things you need to do, and all the things you “should do”. Perhaps you don’t feel like you’re in healthy relationships with others or you find that the way you relate to yourself is less than ideal.

I often work as a generalist but also specialize in neurodivergence/neurodiversity, working with
trauma
, and attachment difficulties.
Many of my patients have been in therapy before, where they used skills and strategies to better manage their lives, but have found that this was not deep enough to make lasting changes. So, I don’t give advice or come with a pre-arranged agenda. Instead, we focus on your concerns and what you have to say while gradually developing a strong therapeutic relationship which is the most important factor in therapy. My role is first and foremost to listen attentively and without judgment so you have space to think, feel, and talk.

I treat depression, anxiety,
trauma
(abuse and/or single incident
trauma
); anger problems, grief/loss, ADHD, in adults and minors, adjustment to life transitions, and relationship/interpersonal issues, and I typically incorporate an exploration of the impact on current functioning in these areas from earlier life experiences and relationships.
My treatment approach is person-centered. I bring an empathic, genuine, active and non-judgmental attitude to my encounter with each client to facilitate a safe and collaborative exploration of contributing factors to the problem (s) addressed in therapy, which in turn allows me to draw from interventions that best fit the client. My treatment philosophy is that the aim of psychotherapy is about helping clients feel better and to be empowered with gained awareness of themselves and their life situation (s) and skills with which to lead a more satisfying life.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
