Your mind is racing, you feel overwhelmed and like you can barely hold it together. You feel the pressure of the expectations of others and live in constant dread of letting them down, or worse being discovered for being a fraud. Even in the quiet of the night your mind races with all the things you need to do and is constantly worried about what you have forgotten, or who you may have let down. You feel powerless to change any of it. This isn’t you, you are used to being fun, passionate, and excited. You love learning, and engaging in your hobbies and fandoms. You just want your life back.

Next-Day Teletherapy Availability! Check out our website to see which therapists have availability and which ones you can join the waiting list for. For those of you who garden, you understand the importance of pulling a weed out by its roots; otherwise, it will keep coming back. Many counseling issues are like weeds. As therapists, we value taking the time necessary to explore your past and determine together the root causes of your issues. At the same time, it's important to make this process efficient and effective. We'll work towards healing, as well as functioning without the need for therapy, in a timely manner.

Our services are driven by the needs of our clients and achieving health and wellness outcomes by strengthening individuals, families, and communities. Our approach is based on the integration of mind and body rather than independent organs or systems divided by specialties or functions. Having a common framework as the foundation of our work helps our interdisciplinary team effectively communicate across specialties and uniquely allows us to address specific challenges across multiple facets of life, effectively identify and evaluate options and opportunities, design more effective treatments, and, ultimately, solve problems.

Long before the pandemic I have been delivering teletherapy to the Bay Sate after HealinGrace in Harvard Sq moved to NoVA. As a certified EMDR therapist I have developed refined ways to conduct as powerful EMDR sessions over the phone or video as in person. My clients have experienced profound transformations as we identify the root of their issues, process painful memories, develop healthy beliefs, and amplify their strengths. Chronically depressed client started seeing life "in color" and severely anxious client drove cross country. Couples on the brink of divorce renewed their covenant and a divorced couple remarried one another.

People often seek counseling or psychotherapy to change and to resolve difficulties or problems. Seeking consultation is personal and it takes some courage to initiate contact. Sometimes the impetus comes from within; sometimes your circumstances or others close to you provide a nudge. Finding the 'right' therapist for you may take some exploration. Some people simply seek to talk privately about a subject or an issue. This may involve one's direction in life, career, management role, or decision-making. Some people seek to address deeply personal thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, spirituality, or other concerns.

I help teenagers (6th-12th grade), college students, and young adults discover their values, get "unstuck," and pursue meaningful pathways for their lives, while overcoming harmful habits, behaviors, and patterns of thinking that may impede their progress. Specifically, I help clients navigate relational, professional, and emotional stressors that can affect mood and mental health and lead to negative outcomes (e.g., substance abuse, self-harm, job/relationship loss).

TELETHERAPY AVAILABLE: Many times we navigate through the world feeling lost, alone, and even scared. We may tell ourselves that "nobody understands me," "nobody loves me," or "people have it much worst than I do, so why do I deserve to be kind to myself." Many of us tell ourselves some sort of variation of these things from time to time. Some of us may tell ourselves these statements on the daily basis. Come join me as we explore your relationship with yourself as well as your relationship with others.

Mental health issues may be difficult to discuss with loved ones, especially if there are cultural barriers. As an Asian American, I experienced the phenomenon of feeling like I had two separate identities. I often felt like an outsider as I questioned “who am I?” While there are many cultural barriers we must face with mental health, you don’t have to face them alone! I can help you navigate cultural identification, family communication, children’s mental health, (e.g. autism, depression, anxiety, and/or behavioral concern), parenting, child development, sexuality issues, and diversity issues.

When we look back at our lives, there are often identifiable moments that shape the direction life takes next. Sometimes these moments come as an opportunity - a person who genuinely sees and unconditionally accepts you - or a choice. These moments can often alter the path of life. Too often people are mislabeled, overlooked, and forgotten, and their behaviors reflect as much. I hope to create a place for people to see and be seen as they wish themselves to be. My goal is to create a safe haven for you to OVERCOME barriers, NURTURE relationships, and EMPOWER yourself to take ownership and control of your life.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in Virginia, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in Virginia listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
