The case of mama traumas, daddy issues, trauma bonding, even emotionally eating perhaps, being the go-to for everybody except yourself-it stops here. In a fast-paced world, you’re just trying to stay afloat. Somewhere along the road, you lost the essence of you, and you're trying to connect and uncover your core and reclaim your power. You’ve done a lot of great work on your own therapizing yourself, reading, researching, listening to podcasts-but how about having a guide and support on this journey now? I’m here for the ride.

While I tailor treatment to each individual, I often use components from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting , and Internal Family Systems, all of which provide tools to cope with and accept discomfort, increase self-compassion, improve relationships, and build a healthier and happier life.
Feeling overwhelmed, worried, or panicked all the time is exhausting. I work to provide a warm environment where clients feel heard, valued, and comfortable collaborating to identify and process any challenges they may be experiencing. I encourage my clients to consider, and even appreciate, that most of our difficult behaviors helped us to survive at some point, which can be a profound shift in perspective. To create sustainable and meaningful change, I help clients to notice patterns that are no longer useful and to create and maintain healthier ones.

Brainspotting , women’s issues, increasing wellness in minority communities, and assessing federal law enforcement (high-risk/operational) highlights a few areas of my training and work.
Let me guess; you’re the strong friend that everyone’s saying to check on. You’re the one who ignores the red flags in relationships or neglects the responsibility of self-care because someone needs you. You’re the overwhelmed person juggling too many tasks, feeling depleted, or trying to heal yourself from past traumas. Life is about transitions, and we need support getting through the rough patches. You are more resilient, capable of healing, worthy of love, and deserving of peace than you may realize. If you’re ready to reduce the stress, heal, or confidently achieve peace for a better quality of life, you're in the right place.

Life can be difficult and full of challenges. Sometimes these challenges can overwhelm us and exceed our capacity to work through them on our own. My practice is focused on working with individual adults, couples and families who need help moving past difficult life events or emotional experiences that keep them stuck and/or vulnerable to depression, anxiety, emotional disconnection, illness, or relationship struggles. I use a culturally sensitive lens to support individuals who have difficulty accessing their emotional world and individuals who have experienced stressful or painful situations that involve spirituality or faith.

By using "bottom up" modalities, such as ego-state therapy, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting , and psychodrama, we aim to help individuals get their lives back sooner.
*Currently accepting new clients - SELF-PAY ONLY* Our practice specializes in the treatment of trauma and addiction. We view anxiety, depression, mood instability, codependence, chemical and process addictions, relationship discord, anger, perfectionism, low self-esteem, and emotional sensitivity as an indication of where a person lives in their nervous system. By working with the natural inclination of the nervous system to heal, we support individuals in overcoming their symptoms and connecting to their deeper selves.

Do you have a sense that something about your childhood is affecting you as an adult? Maybe you can put your finger on exactly what it is, or maybe you are just seeing patterns in your life & relationships that have you wondering if there’s something deeper behind it. Past therapy experiences may have been helpful in some ways, but you seem to keep getting stuck. It feels like anxiety and self-doubt are the ones controlling the direction of your life, not what is true and authentic to you. You’re ready to address these things at the source, so you can finally work with your inner critic and regain control of your life.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in Virginia, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in Virginia listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
