I believe that anyone who wants to make a change in their life can do it. My style is laid back, with an emphasis on listening and getting to know the client on their own terms, and assisting them with self expression when needed. My orientation is self psychological and relational. For some issues, I find that a more structured, directed approach is helpful. I have recently incorporated DBT skills groups into my practice.
With a background of 30 years in clinical practice, 10 years in community mental health, 27 years of private practice, and 11 years in emergency rooms, I have had an opportunity to do many kinds of interventions. I continue to incorporate new ideas through ongoing interest in my clients experience and continuing education.
I am comfortable working with a variety of people because I see everyone as different and am not adverse to dealing with any area of difficulty. Each client is seen as unique and treated as an individual. I enjoy working with all ages, and particularly with adolescents to improve their well being.
