My name is Philippa La Mar, LMHC, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor working with individuals addressing substance abuse recovery and mental health such as Anxiety, Depression, Bi-Polar, Substance Use Disorders, and other mental health disorders. I use several different approaches of therapy such as Person Centered Therapy, (PCT) Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Delectable Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and other therapies to assist client’s with their mental health.

My desire is to help clients work through their issues (such as trauma, depression, eating disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, sexuality, addiction, parenting, spirituality, etc.) so they are able to development of a more integrated sense of self, experience increased individual meaning and purpose and have respectful and enduring relationships with others. In my work I like to come alongside people so they can put their past behind them, experience restoration and live life to the fullest potential.

My approach to therapy is collaborative. We may work with a variety of issues that include anxiety and depression, grief, end of life issues, chronic illness and pain, existential crises, men's issues, and relationship difficulties. Alongside therapy, my work has helped give me a perspective that addresses every stage of life and its challenges. We can approach such challenges together, ranging from young adulthood through those near the end of life. When working with clients, I use an eclectic approach, which means that I am schooled in many theoretical orientations and have mastered an infinite number of skills. I draw from the knowledge I possess to adapt my approach to the person or people in front of me. I believe that the most important part of the therapeutic process is the relationship between the therapist and the client/clients.
