Over the years I've gained experience with people from ages 4 to 70+ from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of mental, emotional, and social challenges. I earned my Bachelors in Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and my Master's in Social Work at Baylor University. I've worked in variety of schools and mental health agencies.

Hello, I am Afsheen Izadi, but I go by Bruce. I have been working as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 2013 and have worked with many different populations. My most common approach is DBT, the SPIRE model, and Motivational Interviewing, but I like to use different approaches based on (1) the client's needs and (2) the stage of therapy. I believe it's best to start off with Motivational Interviewing to develop a rapport and assess the client's preferences or goals. From there I can use DBT, the SPIRE model, CBT, or Solution Focused.

Has your mind made it difficult for you to focus? Do you feel stuck? It is said we have 60 to 80 thousand thoughts a day. That’s roughly 1.2 thoughts every second. Many of those thoughts are the same thoughts we had yesterday and the day before. In the world we live in this over saturation is constantly being reinforced and it begins the moment we open our eyes. We start our days feeling behind, playing catch up. With this many thoughts constantly spinning through our heads where does that leave time for new thoughts, new growth?

I received my Bachelors degree in social work from Stephen F Austin State University and my Masters in social work from the University of Texas Arlington.
